My name is Connie (Constance) Standley, and I am thrilled to join the Firgrove Elementary community as your new Assistant Principal! I am honored to have the opportunity to work alongside our incredible staff, students, and families.
Last year, I served as a Dean of Students in the Puyallup School District, and prior to that, I spent 15 years in the Clover Park School District as a teacher and behavior interventionist. Throughout my career, I have been passionate about building positive relationships with students, supporting their growth, and helping them achieve success both in and out of the classroom. I believe in maintaining consistent, high expectations while creating a supportive environment where every student feels valued, capable, and empowered to reach their goals.
When I'm not at school, my family keeps me busy! My husband and I have been married for 26 years, and we have three wonderful children, along with three dogs, six chickens, and two bunnies. In our free time, we enjoy spending time together drag racing, riding motorcycles, and heading out on four-wheeling adventures. You will also often find me walking around campus with a Crystal Light lemon iced tea or Diet Barqs Root Beer in hand!
I am excited to collaborate with our staff, students, and families to ensure every child receives the support they need to thrive. I truly love working with students and celebrating their achievements, big and small. I can't wait to get to know each of you and work together to make this a fantastic year at Firgrove Elementary!

Looking for a fun (and free!) family activity on Tuesdays? Check out the PSD Summer Storytime Series at the Karshner Museum! 📚

This summer, families are invited to gather at the Karshner Museum Patio for the Puyallup School District Summer Storytime Series.

Three storytimes are still ahead: July 21, August 4, and August 18, with each event featuring engaging read-alouds, crafts, games, and hands-on activities centered around themes of kindness, curiosity, and being yourself.

Join us on an upcoming Tuesday from 4:30–5:30 p.m. for an afternoon of stories, creativity, and family fun. Best of all, it's free!

We can honestly say that “well deserved” is an understatement. Congratulations, Ms. Todd and Mr. TK. Thank you for everything you do! Firgrove is a better place because of you. 💜

Hi Firgrove Hawks!

I’m so excited to officially introduce myself as your new principal!

I cannot tell you how thrilled I am to become part of the Firgrove community. Over the past several years, I've had the privilege of serving students, staff, and families in Puyallup, and I've always admired Firgrove's reputation for caring deeply about kids. I feel incredibly lucky that I now get to be part of that story.

A little about me: My husband, Lloyd, is also a teacher in Puyallup, and we have two teenagers who definitely keep us humble! We also have two rescue dogs, two Bengal cats (yes...I fully embrace my crazy cat lady status), and if I'm not at school, you'll probably find me cheering at a softball field, spending time on the water, or enjoying a Diet Dr Pepper that is almost certainly within arm's reach.

I believe schools are at their best when students feel known, families feel welcomed, and staff feel supported. My goal is for every Hawk to know they belong, are valued, and have adults who believe in them every single day.

I can't wait to meet all of you, learn your stories, celebrate your successes, and maybe even learn who makes the best cookies at school events (strictly for research purposes, of course).

We are incredibly thankful to have Paula and Brittany as part of the Firgrove family. They do so much behind the scenes to make our school a welcoming, safe, and beautiful place for our students, staff, and families. 💜

From preparing classrooms to supporting special events, our Facilities teams help create spaces where learning and community can thrive.

This week's Puyallup Praise shines a spotlight on two individuals whose commitment, teamwork, and willingness to serve make a meaningful difference for the Firgrove Elementary community. We are proud to recognize Brittany Westmark (left), Firgrove Custodian, and Paula Andrews (right), Firgrove's Facilities Operations Manager.

Nominated by district instructional coach Ann Schumacher, she writes:

"I'd like to give a shout-out to Paula Andrews and Brittany Westmark, two outstanding members of Firgrove's custodial team. Each year, Firgrove hosts the district's STEAM Celebration on the first Saturday of May, and their servant hearts and attention to detail make them an essential part of both our school community and this special event. We are truly grateful for their support and appreciate all they do to serve PSD students, families, and staff."

Thank you to Brittany and Paula, and to all members of our Facilities team, for all you do to support our students, families, and staff.
