Landmark College Professor of Education Rebecca Matte appeared on a recent episode of The What and Who of EDU podcast, joining nine of her peers to discuss the topic of “Teaching Challenges No One Trained You For.”

Matte drew on her more than 30 years of experience teaching neurodivergent learners to share the challenge of teaching students who don’t know why they’re in college.

🌼🌼🌼 This Sunday, Landmark College students volunteered in the town of Putney by helping plant daffodils to beautify Main Street for next spring! 🌼🌼🌼

LC Student Corey had this to say:

"There was an announcement that was made across the whole campus asking for volunteers to help the town plant daffodil bulbs around the center of town, and I just wanted to help.

I’m a computer science major, so a lot of the course work I do keeps me inside. Because of that, I try to find ways of getting outdoors whenever I spend a lot of time stressing over my homework. It helps me clear my head and feel refreshed before I get back to work.

And I figured that a community-wide event where I could be of service while enjoying live music could provide a good opportunity to do just that.

I have enjoyed getting to know some of the other students who have come out and talking with others from around Putney.

It’s the act of building connections like these that has helped Landmark College and the town of Putney feel more like a home away from home.

This has been such a fun time, and I can’t wait to see these flowers bloom in the spring."

Part of enjoying life in New England is getting outside -- and that's exactly what Molly Lawson works to support every day at Landmark College.

This weekend, she'll be leading a camping trip to Lonesome Lake Hut in Franconia Notch, New Hampshire, where there is no singular right way to camp.

“You get to choose your own adventure, is what I like to say,” said Lawson.

Three Landmark College faculty are headed to the New England Faculty Development Consortium next month! Professor Rebecca Matte will deliver the keynote, and Professors Lee Crocker and Jeanette Landin will lead an interactive session on balancing academic rigor with inclusion.

Landmark College is proud to be one of the best colleges in the nation to work for, according to the Great Colleges to Work For® program. The results were released today in a special insert of The Chronicle of Higher Education, based on a survey of 171 colleges and universities.

The Upper Campus Commons project is nearing completion. The ReArch Construction team recently completed installing the windows along with other key exterior features, and have begun doing landscaping and other aesthetic groundwork along the exterior of the project location.

Final interior work, such as flooring, siding, and furniture installation is either underway or commencing shortly.

23 clubs and organizations turned out for the Student Engagement Fair last week — from a brand-new Psychology Club to the Film Society, a Bird Club, and a group called Landmark Makers hoping to sell student art at a local farmers market.

"I want to make a space where it's easier for people to understand why what they make matters," said student Raziel Ferguson, who's helping start Landmark Makers.
