Class sign up for Freshman year is coming up…please consider Agriscience!!

Maybe your child is the first in your family to join FFA.

They come home one day and say, “I think I want to join ag.”

You’re not sure what that means.
You don’t know what a record book is.
You’ve never heard of a juding contest.
You don’t own boots for stock shows or know what “official dress” even looks like.

But you sign the paper anyway.

Four years go by in a blink.

Early mornings.
Late nights.
Contests you didn’t understand but showed up for anyway.
Projects that tested patience.
Speeches that built confidence.
Moments that built character.

And somewhere along the way, that blue jacket never really was just a jacket.

It became responsibility.
It became work ethic.
It became leadership.
It became confidence your child didn’t even know they had.

You may have had no idea what FFA entailed when they started…

But by the end of it, you’ll never be able to fully thank that blue corduroy jacket for the person it helped shape your child into 💙💛

Want to appreciate the poinsettia? Look closer! 👀

The tiny, unassuming yellowish-green buds in the center are the actual flowers (cyathia). The red bracts are basically flashy advertisements, evolved to attract pollinators. This is a brilliant strategy of plant morphology and evolution that we've now harnessed through agriculture to create one of the most recognizable and economically successful crops. 🌼✨

One agronomist saved a billion lives! 🤯 Norman Borlaug is known as the "father of the Green Revolution," and he won the 1970 Nobel Peace Prize—not for politics, but for farming! 🌾

His innovation was creating semi-dwarf wheat—plants that are shorter, stronger, and can hold heavier grain heads. This simple plant breeding technique used ag science to dramatically increase harvests and feed entire nations. Talk about a world-changing impact! 🌎✨

We've heard from Santa and he has ok'd the purchase of FFA jackets as long as he has time to get them made!! If you have a kiddo who wants one, message Ms Moss and we can make that happen. But don't forget, we have a brand new chapter set that they can borrow, especially if they are growing fast!

Livestock judging is a favorite of our members and no wonder....they are awesome at it!

Congratulations to the Regional 4th place Middle School Chapter team from & Noble Harrelson School !!

Team members are Gatlin (13th high individual), Curtis (2nd high individual), Joey and Luke (18th high individual).

The team judged 2 classes of beef heifers, 2 classes of market hogs, 2 classes of lambs and 2 classes of goats yesterday at UTM after several months of practice this fall. Thanks to UT Extension for letting us tag along to the 4-H contest!

We wanted to extend our greatest sincerity to B&G Equipment for sponsoring the grant that purchased our brand new chapter set of jackets!! We are excited to see where these jackets take us in the future.

Lucy Beth Jackson, the TN FFA State Treasurer, stopped by to give us some inspiration, jumped in for a picture and then told us she was coming to our December 2nd meeting!

Luke Moore, a 6th-grader at Harrelson School, has made his mark in 4-H with a poster that has traveled far and earned top honors at every level of competition.
