LCS sixth grader, Mary Bella Baxter, has been crowned Miss Elementary America 6th Grade 2026. After winning Miss Mississippi Elementary America 5th Grade, Mary Bella traveled to Little Rock, Arkansas, to compete nationally against students from across the country. Her victory is historic - she is the first Mississippi titleholder in the organization’s 16-year history to win a national title. As part of her reign, Mary Bella will represent Mississippi and the Miss Elementary America organization at events and appearances throughout the year. She also plans to continue her Color Me BRAVE community service initiative, collecting coloring supplies for children in foster care and those involved with Child Protective Services. Purser Pals were roaring with fun filled learning on Tuesday. They used UNO math to help them review for their chapter 1 test. They also played several rounds of “ I have, Who has math”. It took a sharp mind and keen listeners to complete this activity. Stay tuned…. More learning ahead!

Lamar Christian senior, Alivia Powell, and junior, Kalyn Hawthorn, spent their Saturday at Exploring Health Care Pathways presented by UMMC. This initiative aims to introduce high school juniors and seniors to the diverse health care professions. The Explore Heath Care Pathways is a one-day enrichment experience offered by the Office of Admissions and the IMPACT the RACE Program at UMMC. Participants gain insight into admission requirements, education pathways, and scholarship opportunities for aspiring health care professionals.

Our 12th Grade A&P students are learning anatomy through hands-on activities! Students explored homeostasis and heart rate by measuring their pulse before and after exercise, then graphing and analyzing their results.

They also enjoyed a “Sweet Treats Dissection Lab” using Twinkies and gummy bears to practice anatomical position, body planes, and directional terminology. Learning anatomy is definitely sweet!
