Saw the show last night. It was fabulous! It's one of the best high school plays I've ever seen. Don't miss it.
I work for a non-profit agency (CIEE) who matches exchange students with host families. We are currently looking for families in the NoVa area. Host families provide three meals a day, a bed, transportation, and love and support. Students have their own spending money and health insurance. We have students from around the world whose dream is to come to the US.
Therese from Norway is in need of a host family for the 2019/20 school year. "My name is Therese. I am a sixteen years old girl from one of the world’s most northern cities. I was born and raised in a small town with 10 000 citizens.. I would consider myself as an outgoing girl. I chose the United States because I find it to be a very interesting country. The U.S has a lot to offer and I am so excited you cannot even imagine. Throughout my childhood, I have tried out many different sports. Swimming, horse riding, gymnastics, skiing and soccer. My family has influenced me and made me attract towards music. My biggest influences is my father and my cousin , she can sing, play piano and guitar. When we celebrate Christmas, for example we often perform songs for the rest of the family." Hosts provide a bed, 3 meals a day, and your kindness and support. Message me for more info on hosting Therese.
https://www.ciee.org/partner/hosts/host-families
Olof from Sweden needs a host family for the 2019/20 school year. “Dear future host family, My most characteristic personal traits are that I am ambitious, social and active. I love spending time with family and friends and therefore the social relationships are very important to me. Since I value studying and school very high I take my education seriously and I often work late nights with home work and assignments for school. In the future my biggest goal is to go to Medical school and become a doctor. Besides this, my favorite hobbies is to train (either by going to the gym, jogging or playing soccer for the soccer team I am captain for) reading and doing fun activities with both my family and my friends. Examples of these kind of activities are going to the cinema, playing cards, hiking or going to the beach. As I mentioned earlier, family plays a huge part in my life and especially my two sisters mean a lot to me. Therefore I hope that I will become close to you guys and that you will be like a real family to me. I also enjoy cooking and I hope that I can contribute at your house by cooking traditional Swedish food such as swedish meatballs.”
Hosts provide a bed, 3 meals a day, and your kindness and support. Message me for more info on hosting Olof.

Now what is this story all about? “Ooooook, lahoma where the wind comes sweeping down the plains” was known as Indian territory during this time. After the unfortunate 1830’s Indian Removal Act, many reservations and tribes were pushed west. We are investigating our local history along with Oklahoma history to produce a storytelling project along with Rogers and Hammerstein’s Oklahoma!

The story focuses on this fictional pair, Laurey and Curly; a farm girl and a cowboy who figure out if they are ready to tie their futures together for love. Their friends and family encourage the match along the way. This coming of age, turn of the century, musical is a sing along classic that revived the musical theatre genre when it originated in the 1940s, reminding us of both the dark as well as romantic tones from Western expansion.

Buy your tickets today to meet Jus Fry, Curly, Laurey Williams, Aunt Eller, Gertie Cummings, Ali Hakim, Will Parker, and Ado Annie Carnes today! #GroveTheatreGoesOn 🤠 Ticket link in our bio. These ladies are preparing for an important event tonight: the box social.

Time to press their dresses, fill their baskets with sweets, and prepare to be “auctioned off for a date”. We are learning how auctions were an important part of the social culture then for everyday consumption, to fun social events, to the darker under tones of slavery back then. Thanks to Wolf Trap for helping us do storytelling projects alongside our musical next month. Join us in May in person or virtually. #grovetheatregoeson WeatherLea Farm StageCoach Theatre Company

Meet Isabelle, Armina, Cassie, Kate, Aggie, Ellen, Janna, Crystal, and Ilga. These are the young and teen girls that look forward to this coming of age ceremonial event for young ladies to start dating during this time in the early 1900’s. https://whsva.booktix.com/
