Last but certainly not least….Mila Matic! Senior Shout-Out: I am headed to Bennington College to focus on literature and creative writing. My favorite memory was the Little Shop of Horrors Cappies performance, most notably the last few minutes before intermission ended. Just hearing the crowd cheer and sing along with the band… everyone setting up on stage was giddy and smiling. That feeling of connection between the actors and both the audience and their fellow thespians is unmatched in energy. It is a feeling of warmth I will never forget. My advice for future thespians is
to put yourself out there and be unapologetically you. Make that pun, do that cartwheel, audition for that role, write that poem, sing that song, make that suggestion... you will find yourself happier and much more comfortable in your own skin. #congrats #seniorshoutout #grovetheatregoeson #GoodLuck

Senior Shout-Out: My name is Matt Cook and next year i’m headed to GMU. I’ll be studying marketing and maybe performance as a side gig. words of wisdom from the ginger : enjoy every moment while you can because life flies by and do something stupid while you can. #grovetheatregoeson #seniorshoutout #Congrats #GoodLuck

Photos from The Grove Theatre's post 06/27/2021

Senior Shout-Out: I’m Austin Cooke. Next year I’m going to Virginia Tech to study accounting. As much as schafer would hate me for saying this i think the best advice is to not stress and take your time with any assignment in theater. The more time you take and the better designed it is the better it will look and the better you will feel about what you have created. #grovetheatregoeson #congrats #goodluck #SeniorShoutout

Photos from The Grove Theatre's post 06/26/2021

Senior Shout Out: My name’s Katie Ann. Next year I plan to go to Virginia Tech to double major in nutrition and finance. #seniorshoutout Katie Ann joined a theatre class and a production this year scoring a lead. Bravo and good luck Katie Ann! #grovetheatregoeson #Congrats #GoodLuck

Senior Shout-Out: Hello, my names Carissa Harris. Next year I plan on going to Shepherd University to study Elementary or Secondary Education. My advice to future thespians is to always stay focused and if you get behind in work don’t stress just focus on getting it done. #seniorshoutout #grovetheatregoeson

Photos from The Grove Theatre's post 06/24/2021

Senior Shout-Out: I’m going to Brigham young university next year, I’m interested in studying film and psychology, the technical theater is hard but keep learning and expanding your skills and get experience. My time in theater contained some of my favorite experiences in high school, and have fun! #congrats #grovetheatregoeson #seniorshoutout

Photos from The Grove Theatre's post 06/23/2021

Senior Shout-Out: My name is Braeden Wolford. I plan on taking a gap year. Because of me graduating early I have essentially an extra year so I'm gonna save up cash. I plan to work full time starting in the summer so that way the year after I can go and attend NOVA for two years and then transfer over to another school. I'm currently employed at Savoir Fare and am working their restaurant and starting next month will be catering every weekend to make the big bucks. Honestly, my favorite memory was the experiences I was able to create. Let me explain. High school allowed me to meet people and do things that I didn't think I would ever do. It made me go on crazy vacations with friends and meet so many people. It allowed me to meet my girlfriend Madi through the pure chance of high school. It helped me rekindle friendships that I thought I broke and ruined. It helped me keep busy and know how to prioritize things. I can't really pick a favorite memory. I can just appreciate how many ones I was able to create. My advice for future thespians? Don't be afraid. This is going to be a highlight of your life. Don't be afraid to take risks. Go ask that person out, go to that party, meet that new person, etc. Don't hold back and truly live this year. Go out and live. #grovetheatregoeson #seniorshoutout

Photos from The Grove Theatre's post 06/23/2021

Senior Shout-Out: My name is Jillian D’errico. Next year I am going to Virginia Tech to study animal science/pre-vet. My favorite memory of theater is all the open mics I've attended and have had lots of fun at. I hope woodgrove will continue this tradition for a long time. A little piece of advice from me to current and future thespians, is to always respect your director and cast mates in order to put on the best shows that I've seen be created for many years and more years to come. #grovetheatregoeson #seniorshoutout #congrats

We had an awesome meet and greet social yesterday with the new director! So excited for Mrs. Pruzina to come make more magic on stage next year! Mrs. Schafer Benko will stay in the area building out more opportunities for students and managing the ITS Virginia conference at Shenandoah University this coming year. It will be a great partnership continued and smooth transition. 💚💙🎭

06/10/2021

We will have a meet & greet with the NEW Theatre Director this Friday June 11th 4-6 pm. All theatre students are welcome to stop by for some games and snacks. We are asking students to bring something to contribute if possible. We will meet in the Blackbox and spread out as needed. Read a brief bio of Mrs. Pruzina below. Mrs. Pruzina and Mrs. Schafer Benko have been friends for many, many years so this is a great fit and transition. Things will continue right where they left off with the same positive energy and goals to continue to grow the program and its opportunities for students. Congrats, bravo, and welcome Mrs. Pruzina!

Beverly Pruzina comes to Woodgrove HS with over 20 years of theatrical experiences. She started with a Bachelor’s degree in Radio, Television & Film at Temple University followed by a successful career on-air live TV & Radio broadcasting (WCVE-WHTJ-WWBT). She performed in various shows in Philadelphia, New York City and owned a family business; Drama Kids International. Pruzina has taught in LCPS nearly 5 years and understands the demands of teaching public school. She founded the theatre program at Eagle Ridge Middle School in Ashburn which blossomed from just 37 students in 2014 to hundreds of students who have been either part of the Drama Club, schoolwide Musicals, and most recently added Exploratory Dramatics classes. With endorsements in English, History, and Theatre, Pruzina makes a huge effort to welcome all students who want to be part of theatre. This summer she will direct her 16th and final ERMS musical. She is so humbled to have been selected as the new Theatre Director for WHS and is looking forward to working with all of the wonderful students and faculty members who can’t wait to see the curtain rise again on the WHS stage. Pruzina lives in Purcellville with her 3 children and husband of 24 years. She can be reached via email [email protected].

Senior Shout-Out: My name is Torri Allen. i'm moving to Pa and getting a job up there and hopefully taking a few classes at the community college. my favorite memory from theatre was my sophomore year during the whole shebang, when we had rehearsals and were all doing cartwheels and acting like idiots. to future thespians, do any and every show you possibly can because that's the best way to really develop your stage presence. #goodluck #grovetheatregoeson

Also, keep your eyes peeled on our page. We will introduce the new theatre director later this week!

Senior Shout-Out: My name is Emily Reeps. I run the instagram, Lead Cappies Critic, and ITS Vice President.
