"He says, 'Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.'" (Psalm 46:10)
Often, we can be tempted to think we can accomplish things in our own strength. We must learn to be still in the presence of God. True fulfillment cannot be found through striving, but trust and obedience.
Have a blessed weekend!

Why do we study the classics and the Western Tradition? What will you learn if you major in Classical Liberal Arts (CLA) at PHC?
Students in the CLA major pursue a rigorous interdisciplinary focus in the liberal arts. Students are required to take five courses developing an integrated philosophical, historical, literary, and biblical worldview.
“You [as a musician] are being used to draw out the joy and the beauty and the worship of everyone in the room,” says alumna Hannah Davidsmeier. Hannah is stepping into her brand new role at PHC, as director of chapel's worship music! This is a part of an ongoing effort to improve PHC chapel, spearheaded by President Haye.

From red/white/blue to cowboys, Faith & Reason has it all!
Dr. Kristina Tanner was our Faith & Reason speaker this Fall. Students also got creative, matching their outfit to their wing's theme.
Check out the photos!
Faith & Reason is an event held once a semester where PHC invites a speaker to deliver a lecture on an important issue. After the lecture, students break off into discussion groups with their wings and a faculty member to discuss and craft a question. Students, staff, and faculty reconvene for a panel with several PHC professors and the speaker after lunch, and all on the panel are given a chance to respond to the lecture and answer student questions. There are a few fun traditions the day of Faith & Reason as well—wings dress-up in matching themes and there is a volleyball tournament following the lecture.

We express gratitude for the Constitution of the United States and America's enduring political order. Though our country has faced troubles, past and present, we still have much to praise God for. We believe the American constitutional order is a wonder worth preserving. As Christians, we pray faithfully for our country and her leaders.
"The happy Union of these States is a wonder; their Constitution a miracle; their example the hope of Liberty throughout the world." — James Madison
Meet Kinsey from Florida!
"Hi! My name is Kinsey Jansen, I’m from Palm Beach, Florida, and I’m a Journalism student with hopes of preparing for a career in communications and public relations. I’m also a published author of a teen sci-fi novel and am currently working on my next project, a Christian allegorical fantasy.
I was homeschooled and for most of elementary school and all of middle and high school, I participated in Classical Conversations. I was also a competitive swimmer for many years and enjoy all things sports and athletics. I can’t wait to join the PHC community this fall!"

Each year, PHC’s chapel follows a theme chosen by President Haye. The theme this year is “Who I am in Christ.”
That theme will be broken down into weekly topics, taken from Scripture. The first section of themes are centered around the topic: “I am accepted.” This week’s verse is John 1:12: "Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God."
Right now, our students are hearing in chapel that they are accepted as children of God. Above all else, their core identity is in Christ!

Why do we study philosophy and politics at PHC? Why major in Political Theory or Political Philosophy?
Political Theory and Political Philosophy are tracks of PHC's Government major. The students who choose these tracks study philosophy and political thought, from ancient to contemporary, as well as the application of these to current policy issues. The courses emphasize reading, discussion, and writing.
As Russell Kirk writes, a good society is characterized by order, justice, and freedom. The Theory and Philosophy tracks allow students to engage with these philosophical ideas at a high level and apply timeless wisdom to our current societal issues. These skills are crucial for understanding law and governance.
