For Christ and For Liberty The nation’s top-tier colleges and universities are no longer producing godly leaders capable of preserving American liberty.
Patrick Henry College challenges the unacceptable status quo in higher education by combining the academic strength and commitment to biblical principles that elite institutions have lost. PHC graduates think clearly, communicate persuasively, and are best equipped to serve Christ faithfully. PHC exists for Christ and for liberty.

Patrick Henry College is pleased to announce the winners of the first annual PHC Talent-Finder Nonfiction Writing Contest, sponsored by the Journalism Program.
The topic this year was “greatness.”
Professor of Journalism Dr. Les Sillars judged the contest and provided professional feedback to each contestant. “I was delighted that we received so many entries, and the quality of the writing was very strong overall.” he said. “I encountered so many students who show so much potential as writers. I’d love to see them at PHC.”
Selecting the winners was difficult, he added, but these three students are very deserving.
The winners are:
First place ($100 prize): Natalie McDaniel, for “Ordinary Greatness,” a profile about the wisdom of her grandmother
Second place ($50 prize): Emmet Bicknell, for “The Game,” about a world record-setting softball game
Third place ($20): Josiah Hemp, for “The Dishwashing General,” a profile of a retired Army major general and a true servant-leader
The winning entries are eligible for publication in PHC’s student newspaper, The Herald.
“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulders: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The Mighty God, the Everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace.”
Here are some winter shots from around campus! We hope students and faculty alike are celebrating Christmas with peace, joy, and merriment all over the United States. May God be with you and your families this Christmas day.

Last year we got maybe a foot of snow. No, not all at once—as in the total amount. But that’s not always the case. Believe it or not, we once had a year where it snowed more than six feet in a single go. Now, to you that might sound like a little or a lot, depending on where you come from, but for us it was crazy and canceled classes for a good four days or so!! Anyone crossing their fingers for a repeat snowfall this year?

In under two decades, Patrick Henry College (PHC) has established an exceptional reputation as a college that nurtures high-caliber talent through an elite Christian education. PHC teaches students more than just facts. Students learn to think clearly, speak articulately, and write persuasively. The classical approach, combined with distinctive apprenticeships and a biblical worldview, enables our students to serve and lead at the highest levels.
From its founding, Patrick Henry College has never accepted government funding. This allows the college to preserve academic freedom and philosophical integrity. With this freedom, PHC is able to operate and make decisions based on merit and faith without agenda or influence of social engineering.
With this freedom, PHC seeks to educate students in God's truth throughout the entire curriculum. Christian faith and genuine learning cannot be separated; neither is our Christian faith a mere addendum to the liberal learning process. Instead, our Christian faith precedes and informs all that we at Patrick Henry College study, teach, and learn.
