Scholarship Type: Merit Merit Awards: $500 - $2500 Application Period: February 1, 2019 - April 12, 2019 with the application being postmarked no later than April 12, 2019 Military Spouses of Newport Scholarships Every year, the Military Spouses of Newport Scholarships Committee awards scholarships for graduating high school students that reside in or are attached to a base in the state of Rhode Island that are dependents of active duty, retired or deceased military personnel. In addition you will find applications for dependent children (other than high school seniors) in post-secondary education, certification, or professional programs has been created. Lastly, MSoN also offers a scholarship for spouses of RI active duty military personnel. This year’s scholarships application period will be from February 1, 2019 until April 12, 2019. If you meet all of the eligibility, we encourage you to complete one of the Military Spouses of Newport 2019 Applications. Read through the application thoroughly, follow all directions, and submit your completed packet postmarked no later than April 12, 2019. Hello! Here's an update on the production of the Historical Drama, "Elijah and George."

U.S. Congressman Joe Wilson has introduced legislation that supports school choice opportunities for our nation's military and military connected families. HSLDA strongly supports Wilson's efforts. Bridgette Whitlow-Spurlock, a doctoral candidate at Liberty University, military spouse, and homeschooling mother of three children, is conducting a study in which she hopes to identify and describe the curriculum, instructional methods, and structure used by homeschooling families of gifted and twice-exceptional children.


If you have homeschooled a gifted or twice-exceptional child for at least two years, you may be eligible to participate in the research, which will be conducted through online chat applications.

Exciting news for military families! CHEA will be doing a drawing to give away FIVE family registrations to the 35th Annual Homeschool Convention (June 28-30 at the Pasadena Convention Center) to active military families again this year.

Here is how to enter.

Families of active military may contact CHEA by email with their name, address, phone, email, and their branch of service. Send the info to [email protected] by midnight, Sunday May 27. We will do the drawing and announce the winners the next morning--Memorial Day. We will do a Facebook Live event, but will only give first name and last initial to protect their privacy. They they will receive an email with the registration form to fill out and return.
