Sandra Setree Obituary
Sandra (Sandy) Kathleen Setree, beloved daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away June 30, 2025.
She was born on Feb. 20, 1964, at Adrian Hospital in Punxsutawney, to William and Elaine (Beatty) Setree of Rossiter.
A 1982 graduate of Punxsutawney Area High School, Sandy excelled in basketball and track and field. She earned her bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 1986 and pursued a career that took her to New York City, Spain and beyond. No matter where she lived or worked, Rossiter was always home.
Sandy was deeply devoted to her family, especially her many nieces and nephews. She was a second mother, a trusted confidant, a model of integrity and a steady presence at every milestone and moment in between. She extended that same care to her great-nieces and great-nephews, rarely missing an event or family gathering.
She was a talented artist with a passion for painting, stained glass and crafts, and possessed enviable photography skills. She loved traveling with family, decorating for the holidays and sitting on her front porch to watch the wildlife. She especially adored black bears, a love her family will always remember her for.
Anyone who knew Sandy remembers her love of music. Whether she was driving with the top down in her old convertible, singing along to Bruce Springsteen, Aretha Franklin, or classic oldies, or leading a karaoke night, she brought joy wherever she went. Sandy wanted everyone around her to have a good time, and she always led the way.
She is survived by her siblings, Joan Setree Kemerer (Don), Rebecca Urchuck (Mingo), Barbara McKeown (Gary), William G. Setree Jr., Janeen Love (Dave), Scott Setree and sister-in-law Karen Setree.
Her nieces and nephews include Jamie Reddinger (Adam), Andra Titus (Christopher), Billy King (Cali), Melissa Butler, Ryan McKeown (Nikki), Mark Love (Timberly), Mike Love (Becky), Andrew Love, Matt Love (Ellie), Cody Setree, Christopher Setree, Jennifer Setree, Kera Koziara (Kurtis), Craig Setree and Hollyann Setree.
Great-nieces and great-nephews are Madalyn Reddinger, Delaney Reddinger, Sofia Titus, Bailey Butler, Brady Butler, Jaxon Love, Jase Love, Greyson Love, Marlee Love, Kullen Koziara, Koda Koziara, and Kincaid Koziara. She was joyfully awaiting the arrival of baby Setree-Black in November.
She is also survived by her maternal aunt, Carole Monoskey, and uncle Russ Beatty.
Sandy was preceded in death by her parents, William and Elaine Setree; her grandmother, Isabel Beatty; her sister-in-law, Manette Setree; and her great-niece, Mavis Love.
Friends will be received from noon until 3 p.m. on Thursday, July 3, 2025, at Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney. A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. at the funeral home, officiated by Ted Woods. She will be laid to rest at Union Hill Cemetery in Rossiter.
