☀️𝗦𝘂𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗿 𝗠𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗺 & 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘆 ☀️

Usually, this feed is full of perfectly styled plates and grill marks. But today, I wanted to share a slice of my real life. This was me on Memorial Day, just floating on the boat and completely unplugging with my favorite furry co-captain. 🌊🐶
For a long time, my life was stuck in ‘high gear.’ I was pushing, performing, and stressing over the algorithm—and my body paid the price. My nervous system was trapped in a constant state of fight-or-flight, which ended up wrecking my gut health (hello, SIBO and a hiatal hernia) and leaving my thyroid very sluggish.
Lately, I’ve been working on a massive pivot toward pro-metabolic healing. A huge part of that journey isn’t just what’s on my plate—it’s about actively getting my body back into ‘rest and digest’ mode and giving my thyroid the safety it needs to thrive.

With summer officially here, I’m leaning heavily into what I like to call a Summertime Metabolism. I now think of sunlight as essential healing medicine. ☀️

Dr. Ray Peat always taught that safe, natural sunlight acts like a direct battery charger for your cells. It tells your metabolism that you are safe, allowing your body to switch off the chronic stress hormones that freeze your digestion and shut down your thyroid.

I’m dropping the pressure to be perfect on here. This summer, my goal is to heal my gut, support my thyroid, and share the real, unpolished journey with you guys.

What does that mean for this page? I’m absolutely still going to share the grilling recipes but I’ll be sharing them with a pro-metabolic lens with info on how to nourish your body and support metabolism and digestion. Plus, I’ll be taking you behind the scenes as I develop recipes for my upcoming pro-metabolic cookbook!

The kitchen is still my sanctuary, but peace of mind is my priority. ✨

Cheers to a summer of actual rest, digestion, and healing. Who else is working on lowering their stress levels and supporting their health this season? 👇

Meat Meme Monday 🔥

This week’s obsession: Picanha with Kimchee Butter 🥩🔥
If you’ve never tried picanha (aka coulotte steak), consider this your sign. It’s one of the most flavorful cuts out there, grills beautifully, and usually comes in at a better price point than a NY strip. 😎

Big flavor, juicy results, and that crispy fat cap? Hard to beat.

Happy National Brisket Day! 🔥

👇 WANT THE RECIPES? 👇
Comment “BRISKET” below and I’ll send you the tutorials straight to your DMs! Which brisket style are you making first? 🥩🔥

If there’s one cut of meat that deserves its own holiday, it’s brisket. Low and slow, rich and smoky, crispy bark with melt-in-your-mouth texture… there’s honestly nothing like it. 🤤

Over the years I’ve shared SO many brisket tutorials on grillgirl.com, but after shifting my focus toward more pro-metabolic, gut-supportive eating, I’ve gained a whole new appreciation for this classic comfort food.

While mainstream wellness culture pushes ultra lean muscle meat like chicken breasts nonstop, brisket actually offers something really special when prepared properly:

✨ Collagen + Glycine Support
Brisket is naturally rich in connective tissue, and after hours of slow cooking, that collagen breaks down into gelatin rich in glycine — an amino acid known for supporting recovery, digestion, relaxation, and thyroid function.

✨ Nutrient Dense + Satiating
The combination of protein and healthy fats makes brisket incredibly satisfying and supportive for stable energy levels.

✨ Slow-Cooked = Easier on Digestion
That long cook time helps break everything down into tender, bioavailable goodness your body can utilize more easily.

🔥 “Better Than Sex” Brisket
🔥 Pellet Smoker Brisket
🔥 Big Green Egg Brisket
🔥 Captain Ron’s Foil Boat Method

💡 Pro-Metabolic Pairing Tip:
Serve your brisket with fruit, orange juice, honey glazed carrots, roasted sweet potatoes, or other easy-to-digest carbs to help support metabolism and mineral balance.

Meat Meme Monday — Memorial Day Edition 🔥

Today’s about more than just a day off, a backyard cookout, or firing up the grill. 🇺🇸 I’m grateful for the brave men and women who served and sacrificed so we can enjoy moments like these with family, friends, and good food. ❤️🤍💙

I added in a few of my own cooks for some inspiration if you’re still planning today’s menu—because nothing brings people together quite like great BBQ. 🥩🔥

Wishing everyone a safe and delicious Memorial Day. 🇺🇸

Everyone knows I love a good burger 🍔 and Memorial Day weekend is basically the perfect excuse to fire up the grill and try something new. I’ve shared SO many burger recipes on my website over the years, but these are some of my all-time favorites for your cookout lineup 🇺🇸🔥

👉🏻 Comment “recipe” and I’ll DM you the link to some of my best burger recipes!

From the Red, White & Blue Burger to Juicy Lucy Burgers, Hangover Burgers, Hawaiian Burgers, Primal Carnivore Burgers, Blue Cheese Bacon Jam Burgers, and even my Smash Burger Wedge Salad combo… there’s something for everyone in this carousel.

A few of my favorite ways to keep burgers a little “cleaner” while still making them insanely delicious:

✔️ Use organic buns (or brioche imported from France) to help avoid glyphosate
✔️ Use seed oil free mayo like
✔️ Make my Chaffles recipe for a grain-free option… or skip the bun entirely
✔️ Look for primal blends that mix organ meats into the beef for extra nutritional value
✔️ Swap ground bison for beef for a major B vitamin boost
✔️ Have fun with your burger choices — buffalo burgers are SO good too

Grilled Cheese on a Stick 🔥🧀

👉🏻 Comment “recipe” to get the full recipe sent to your dm!

If you’ve never had Queso de Freír, prepare to become obsessed. This salty, golden cheese grills up perfectly crispy on the outside while staying soft and creamy inside… basically the ultimate grilled cheese experience on a stick. 🤤

Did you know real cheese is actually a metabolic superfood? According to biologist Dr. Ray Peat, the high calcium-to-phosphate ratio in cheese helps support metabolism and keep stress hormones low. This grilled Queso de Freír is the ultimate pro-metabolic snack for summer grilling season. 🔥

Even better? It’s made with simple ingredients and packs satisfying protein and calcium without all the fillers and gums found in ultra-processed snacks. Healthy food really can taste this good.

Meat Meme Monday 🔥

The grill’s hot, the memes are questionable, and the meat is absolutely carrying this Monday. 🥩😅

Just smoke, seasoning, and the belief that most problems can be improved with a good steak. 😎🔥

What’s your cut of choice today? 👇
