WSU ROAR is hiring for our WSU ROAR Employment Services Coordinator Position, as the person in this position is assuming a new role within our program!

Position Overview: The WSU ROAR Employment Services Coordinator leads the development and implementation of employment and career services for students with intellectual disabilities. This position focuses on building employer partnerships, coordinating career development systems, and supporting students in achieving meaningful, competitive integrated employment aligned with their person-centered goals.

The coordinator will also supervise employment coaches, coordinate work-based learning opportunities (e.g., internships and job placements), and collaborate closely with students, families, university partners, and community agencies. This role is an integral part of our energetic, collaborative team and is based in Pullman, WA.

We had an absolute blast supporting Spokane's Adapted Field Day back in May!

A sincere thank you to WSU ROAR graduates, Desmond and Xander, along with Assisted Living Advisor, Kam Rogers, for bringing both the knowledge and the hype to our booths. From movement and wellness to dorm living and healthy dining, they helped create a fun, welcoming, and engaging experience for hundreds of students.

We're grateful for the opportunity to connect with so many amazing young people and educators and to share what inclusive college opportunities can look like after high school.

We can't wait to do it again!

WSU ROAR is excited to be attending the King County Disabilities Resource Fair on Thursday, May 28th! The location is new. We'll be at the Microsoft Conference Center Building 33, 16070 NE 36th Way, Redmond, WA from 9:00-2:00 PM.

This event is a wonderful opportunity to connect with the community, share resources, and meet incredible individuals and organizations making a difference. Stop by and say hello! We'd love to see you there!

Congratulations to Jill Beilenberg and Hannah Sprague of Birch & Barley, recipients of the Community Partner Award presented by the Whitman County Developmental Services Board for their outstanding contributions to human services in the Palouse region. Their commitment to inclusion, community, and creating spaces where everyone belongs makes a meaningful difference every day.

We also want to celebrate Deb Niehenke of Whitman County Special Olympics for her well-deserved recognition honoring years of dedicated service to human services in the Palouse region. Deb’s impact on athletes, families, and our broader community cannot be overstated.

WSU ROAR is incredibly fortunate to partner with people who champion inclusion not just in words, but through consistent action, leadership, and heart. Thank you for helping make the Palouse a more welcoming and connected community for all.

How often do you get to hold a freshly manufactured component that will one day be part of an airplane? Recently, seven students from the Washington State University (WSU) ROAR program got to do exactly that.

Last week, ROAR visited Tessera’s manufacturing facility in Auburn, Washington for a hands-on tour with our team. They stepped onto the production floor, saw our processes in action, and got a closer look at the level of detail behind the work we do every day.
