Late yesterday, WSU, the City of Pullman, and Whitman County issued overlapping message alerts regarding a 9‑1‑1 outage. Due to a technical issue within the messaging system, the system became overloaded and unintentionally sent repeated messages to some individuals affiliated with multiple jurisdictions. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience as the issue was resolved. The agencies are debriefing today to identify steps to prevent this from happening in the future.

Yesterday I had the honor to attend our newest officer’s graduation from the basic law enforcement academy and to administer his oath of office in front of his friends and family. Please welcome our newest officer Kegan Anthony to the team.

Motion State, a Seattle-based production company, will be filming a TV commercial for Firestone Tires on campus June 2. Filming will take place primarily on NE Stadium Way between Wilson Road and Ferdinand's Lane from about 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. in conjunction with WSU Police. Traffic will be rerouted around Wilson Road and Ferdinand's Lane and provisions to keep bus routes through will take place. The sidewalks will remain open to the public, and production assistants will be positioned throughout NE Stadium Way to make sure pedestrians are aware of what is happening.

A small splinter unit will then head in front of Wilson-Short Hall and will film sequences for a couple of hours. Students and faculty will be able to work and walk around this set.
