🐐🐑 BIG NEWS FOR WENATCHEE FFA! 🐑🐐

We are SO excited to share that we received our second beautifully built Ag Barn shelter from Palouse Ranches! 🎉

This means that we’ll be able to expand our Ag Barn program and support 16 students in raising and exhibiting goats and sheep for fair next year!

Last year, our Ag Barn gave students the opportunity to raise livestock who may not otherwise have the space or resources to do so at home. Watching students learn responsibility, animal care, showmanship, and all the little lessons that come with raising an animal has been one of our more recent rewarding parts of our program.

Now we get to open that opportunity to even more students! 💙💛

Applications will open this winter, stay tuned! 🐑 🐐

Mr. Asplund & Mr. Juchmes joined forces with Mr. Hepton from Eastmont FFA to form Wise Owl BBQ for East Wenatchee’s Smoke in the Valley BBQ Contest! 🍖

These advisors spend plenty of time teaching students about BBQ, so naturally it was time to see if they could actually practice what they preach! 😉

And there’s a little friendly bragging rights behind this one… 👀

🏆 Eastmont FFA took 1st Place in the BBQ Novice Division, while our Wenatchee FFA BBQ team took 1st Place in the Washington FFA Pro Division last spring!

We love seeing our advisors getting out there, having some fun, and putting the skills they teach our students to the test! 🔥

Thanks to Cascadia Conservation District, Tierra Learning Center, and NRCS for hosting a fun Land Evaluation workshop today!

Our Fish & Wildlife students and ENR team members got their hands dirty practicing skills used by soil scientists to evaluate the best use of our lands! 🪏 🧭

Our amazing Wenatchee FFA Alumni & Supporters
is hosting their annual Hog Raffle! 💙💛

For just $5 per ticket, you could be one of FOUR lucky winners drawn on October 16th to receive half a hog, cut and wrapped! 🥓🐖

This annual fundraiser helps support our Wenatchee FFA chapter and provides additional opportunities and experiences for our students throughout the year!

A big thank-you to our chapter president, Penelope Moore, for putting together this month’s newsletter! 📰✨

This issue takes a look back at a busy and exciting fair season, celebrates our members and their accomplishments, and introduces our newest ag teacher, Shaun Knutzen! We’re so excited to have him join our agriculture program and look forward to everything this year has in store.

This month’s newsletter also includes information about our FFA Chapter Sponsorship Program! We’re inviting local businesses, families, and community supporters to partner with Wenatchee FFA to help provide chapter shirts and support meaningful experiences and opportunities for our members. Sponsors will be recognized for their support of our students and chapter.

It was a busy day for Wenatchee FFA! 💙💛

We took our Tractor and Livestock Teams to Othello for a day of contests, and our Tractor Team came home with a 4th place finish! 🚜👏

Our Livestock Team had some really great individual scores, even perfect placings for some classes! We just had a few bubble sheet mishaps that definitely taught us a few lessons about slowing down and double-checking our classes and sheets for next time! 😅

While part of our crew was competing in Othello, some of our other members and advisors were out in the community volunteering at the Salmon Festival! 🐟 They helped with the fish painting and trivia stations and even had some fun competing in an archery contest! 🏹

Most importantly, everyone had a great time, made some memories, and got some valuable experience under their belts. We’re proud of these students for getting out there, trying new things, and representing Wenatchee FFA! 💙💛

Our VP even hopped into the squirrel suit! 🐿️

🌱💙Happy National Teach Ag Day! 💛🌱

Happy National Teach Ag Day to our amazing ag teachers and FFA advisors! We’re proud to be part of a profession that gives students the opportunity to learn, lead, and grow through agriculture.

Here’s to the all the ag teachers who show up, get their hands dirty, and help grow the next generation of agricultural leaders!

I’m bummed I didn’t get more pictures, but I’m so glad I captured this one! Our principal looks a little scared, but Mrs. Moser was such a good sport while the girls showed off their rooster and hen, both of which won awards this fair season!

What made this moment even more special is that the chickens came from our Campus Coop. It was important for our admin to see firsthand the opportunities our school’s coop and Ag Barn create for students to participate, gain hands-on experience, and develop a deeper understanding of agriculture. These spaces help make FFA accessible to more students and show the value of having agricultural programs right on campus!

A huge thank-you to our admin for taking the time to come out and support our Wenatchee FFA students at the fair! They joined us to watch market showing and visit the poultry barn. Our students were so excited to share their projects, answer questions, and give our administrators a glimpse into a day in the life of the fair. These experiences mean so much to our students, and having school leaders there to encourage them made the day even more special.

Thank you for showing up, supporting our students, and celebrating all of the hard work, dedication, and learning that goes into their FFA projects! 💙💛🐓🐖🐑🐐
