โค๏ธ Supporting Our Spokane Neighbors
Many of you have likely seen the news coverage of the devastating wildfires in the Spokane area. These fires have destroyed homes, displaced families, and left many wondering where to begin rebuilding.
For our family, this tragedy has hit especially close to home. My son, Jagger, and Toree's (Taylee's mom) son Carter, plays for Spokane Surf Soccer Club, and several of their teammates and coaches have been directly impacted. One teammate's family lost their home, another teammate's grandparents lost theirs, and several teammates and coaches have been forced to evacuate. While we are incredibly grateful that everyone is safe, the road to recovery will be long.
We've been in direct contact with some of these families and know there is an immediate need for everyday essentials, including:
โข School supplies for the upcoming school year
โข Toiletries and personal hygiene items
โข New or gently used clothing for adults and children (all ages)
โข Baby wipes
โข Bottled water
โข Non-perishable snacks and food items
โข Other household essentials as needs continue to arise
If you would like to help, donations may be dropped off in Jackie's office any time before Thursday. Toree has an office in Spokane and has generously offered to transport the donations to Spokane on Thursday. Soccer practices are cancelled this week, but once soccer practices resume, our families carpool to Spokane three to four days each week, allowing us to continue delivering items as additional needs arise.
The Spokane community has a long road to recovery ahead. Thank you for considering how you might help. One of the things I love most about the Building Blocks family is how quickly we come together to support others in times of need. Whether it's a package of school supplies, a case of water, or a few toiletries, every donation will help a family begin taking the next step forward.
Thank you for helping us extend the kindness and compassion of our BBCCC community to our neighbors in Spokane.
Warm Regards,
Jackie
