Recently, our fifth graders combined science and social studies for a fun, hands-on learning experience! They made butter in class while learning about the properties of matter and how materials can change.

Students connected their science learning to social studies by exploring how early Tennessee tribes used the natural resources around them to find food and meet their basic needs. Students got to experience how people have always used available resources in creative and practical ways.

Learning is always better when students can experience it!

As we begin a new year at Southside, we held a ribbon cutting this morning for our new teachers and staff to welcome them to our Supercat Family! We are ready to meet our students and start an amazing year!!

Congratulations to Mrs. Becky Payne, Mrs. Elizabeth Hatfield, and Mrs. Lisa Bryant, whose students demonstrated high achievement on Spring TCAP!! These teachers were recently recognized by the district for meeting or exceeding the district goal in their grade/subject. We are so proud of these teachers and their students!
