Carden Academy is based on the philosophy of Mae Carden (1894-1977), the renowned educator who founded the Carden Method that is used by more than 70 schools across the United States. Back to School Nights are always a special part of the beginning of a new school year! 💙

Last week, our Elementary and Middle School families had their first opportunity to step into their child’s classroom, see their desk, explore their work on display, and get a glimpse into the learning environment where so much growth happens each day. After many years, we’re bringing back a very special part of Carden history! Years ago, our students chose a mascot for our school—and today, the Carden C**t is back!

Our C**t represents the spirit, courage, and curiosity that make Carden special, while proudly reflecting the strength, character, and spirit of Upcountry Maui. 🌺

Our Middle School performers brought the laughs (and the talent!) to the stage in Bedtime Stories (As Told by Our Dad Who Messed Them Up) by Ed Monk—and what a show it was!

From a twist on The Princess and the Pea, to the wildly creative Little Red Hansel & Gretel (written by our very own 8th graders 👏), to a hilarious take on Rumpelstiltskin, every moment was full of energy, creativity, and heart.

This production was truly a full middle school effort—with students shining as actors, production crew, set designers, and sound technicians. 🎬🎨🎧

Today, all students were invited to participate in our annual Lei Contest, showcasing their beautiful handmade creations in two exciting categories. From traditional styles to imaginative designs, we are so proud of the artistry and effort our students brought to this special day.
