Effectiveness of THC-containing cannabis for inflammatory bowel disease: a systematic review - Journal of Cannabis Research 06/08/2026

IBD is more than just "tummy aches." 😖 This chronic inflammatory condition of the GI tract can affect digestion, energy, and often causes pain that seriously impacts patients’ quality of life.

This review examines the use of THC-containing cannabis as a potential treatment option for IBD. Despite the inconclusive results, it shows that more research is still needed to determine its therapeutic use as an effective treatment for inflammatory bowel disease.

The quality of studies like these, and the research behind them is important in gathering more insight into whether cannabis use contributes to clinical remission or may be limited to symptom relief.

How Does Acetaminophen Work? Study Links Pain Relief to the Endocannabinoid System 06/01/2026

💊🧠 One of the most common pain relievers might work in a way scientists didn’t fully understand—until now.

A recent CU Anschutz study suggests that acetaminophen may relieve pain by interacting with the body’s endocannabinoid system—a natural system involved in regulating pain and inflammation. Researchers found that changes in the body’s own cannabis‑like molecules were linked to both medication use and how much pain patients reported.

Why does this matter?

Even widely used medications can still hold surprises. Understanding how they actually work could lead to more targeted treatments, better pain management strategies, and new approaches to care—especially for people seeking effective alternatives.

🤔 What do you think is most important for patients to understand about how everyday medications affect the body?

Psychosis and Cannabis Legalization: Where's the Evidence? 05/29/2026

🧠📊 As cannabis policies evolve, scientists are asking an important question: what does the data actually show?

A recent review presented at the American Psychiatric Association meeting found that research on cannabis use and psychosis shows mixed results so far. Some studies suggest higher risk with earlier use or higher‑potency products, while others have not found clear links at the population level.

Why does this matter?

With policies changing across the country, understanding real‑world health impacts is essential. Researchers say there are still key gaps—especially when it comes to age groups, usage patterns, and long‑term outcomes—highlighting the need for more consistent, high‑quality evidence to guide decisions.

🤔 When scientific evidence is still evolving, how should it influence public health policy and personal decision‑making?

Four ways ma*****na rewires the teenage brain 05/28/2026

🧠📉 The teenage brain is still under construction—and new research is raising important questions.

A recent Scientific American article highlights that cannabis use during adolescence may alter brain development, including changes in the cerebral cortex—an area linked to memory, learning, and decision‑making. Some studies suggest these changes may resemble patterns typically seen with aging.

Why does this matter?

The brain continues developing into the mid‑20s, making this a critical window for growth. Understanding how outside factors can influence that process helps guide education, prevention, and informed decision‑making for teens, families, and communities.

🤔 What role do you think education and awareness should play in helping young people make informed health choices?
