Columbian Elementary's OVERALL attendance percentage is currently at 92.73%.

We wanted to let our families know that we had 68 tardies last Thursday. Tardies add up to lost instructional time.

We open doors at 7:40

Students are tardy starting at 7:55

If a student arrives at 8:00 or later, parents are required to come to the office to sign them in.

Thank you for your support in getting our students to school.

The week of October 19th will be parent-teacher conferences. This is an important time to meet with your child's teacher. Please look for sign-up information from your child's teacher.

Tuesday: Vision and Hearing tests will be given to our Columbain students this day.

Attached is information about our Fall Carnival happening on October 29th. There will be games, fun, a basket raffel and In-N-Out will be there. Please buy your tickets in advance at the office.

Yesterday, our 2nd graders had an exciting visit from the Space Foundation Headquarters and Discovery Center!

Our students had the opportunity to explore the wonders of space and spark their curiosity about science, technology, and the universe beyond our planet!

A HUGE thank you to the Space Foundation for bringing this amazing learning experience right to Columbian Elementary! We also want to give a special shout-out to Ms. Zamora for organizing this wonderful opportunity for our students!

Tomorrow is the last day to have your paperwork turned in for Eye Love Care. This is the last day this year when your child can get an eye exam and glasses, if needed, right here at Columbian. If interested, please have the paperwork filled out and turned in to the school by tomorrow morning.

This Week:
Monday - Eye Love Care will be at Columbian Elementary School this week. This is a great opportunity for our families and students. If you have not filled out the paperwork to have your child get an eye exam and glasses, if needed, at school, please do so if this is something you are interested in. If you need another form, just contact the office.

Thursday - Picture Day - Please have the paperwork turned in for picture day. If you have any questions, please let your child's teacher know.

We are having our annual Fall Carnival and In-N-Out will be here. Thursday, October 28th from 5:00-8:00 will be our Carnival and In-N-Out will be here. You will need to purchase your In-N-Out tickets in advance at the office. Please check your email for the flyer.

Shout-out to our 5th-grade students for presenting their digital stories to parents and others last week. They really did a nice job! Thank you, parents, for showing your support.

Upcoming Events:
Eye Love Care will be coming back to Columbian starting October 5th. Paperwork will be going out this week. This is a great opportunity for your child to get an eye exam and glasses if needed right here at school.

Reminders/Updates:
Families, please continue to pull up to the curb when dropping students off and be aware of parking in front of neighbors' driveways so we are not blocking their access.

Students should not be dropped off before 7:40, and when they arrive, they should be lined up at their entry doors and not on the playground. Please remind your child of this so they are ready to enter on time and start the day.

Bus:
Below is the link to the updated bus schedule. Some times have changed for pickup and drop-off, so please take a look.

We have a large number of students who ride the bus each day, and it becomes very difficult to make changes when we receive calls about ride changes after 1:00 pm.

If your child's transportation plans are changing, please let the office or your child's teacher know before 1:00 pm so we can make sure the change happens smoothly and safely.

Thank you for your support with this — it makes a big difference for our students and staff.

Three D60 Schools Named National Bright Spots!

Minnequa Elementary, Franklin School of Innovation and Columbian Elementary have been recognized with a Bright Spot Award from The 74 for outstanding third-grade literacy achievement.

The award honors schools nationwide by celebrating the hard work of students, teachers and staff who are helping every child become a confident, successful reader.

Congratulations to our August Staff Members of the Month!
Each month, Columbian staff have the opportunity to recognize the amazing people they work alongside by nominating a Certified and Classified Staff Member of the Month and sharing why that person deserves to be celebrated. Our August nominations were filled with so many kind words, and after the votes were counted, we are excited to recognize Molly Curro and Anthony Castro!

Molly Curro – Certified Staff Member of the Month
Molly's colleagues described her as someone who “goes above and beyond for all the students and staff in the building,” from teaching music and working with students to helping staff with technology and poster needs. Another colleague shared that Molly “gives her all and never asks for anything in return” and “sprinkles happiness wherever she goes!"

Anthony Castro – Classified Staff Member of the Month
Anthony's colleagues repeatedly recognized his incredible work ethic and willingness to help. He was described as “the definition of hard worker,” someone who always has a smile on his face and is willing to lend a hand. Staff also shared how much pride Anthony takes in keeping Columbian clean, organized, and welcoming for our students and staff.

A HUGE thank you to Texas Roadhouse Pueblo for partnering with Columbian to help us recognize our incredible staff and for stopping by to personally celebrate Molly and Anthony!
