Dear Thunderbolt Families, this is Mr. Pool with this week's announcements.

We want to thank our students for coming to school with smiles and kindness. We also want to thank our families for being so involved with the school and your child's education. We appreciate everyone's patience in keeping our students safe during drop-off and pick-up. Thank you for driving slowly and pulling all the way up to the curb to let students out and to pick them up. Just a reminder that the cul-de-sac on Palmer from Northern needs to have 1 lane entering and only one lane leaving the cul-de-sac to ensure cars can safely get through from Northern. This will help keep everyone safe.

Reminder: School begins at 7:45 and ends at 3:05. We open our doors at 7:40 to let students in. Please do not drop your student off before 7:40, as we do not have supervision on the grounds until this time.

IN-N-OUT + FAMILY MOVIE NIGHT!

Mark your calendars for Thursday, September 3rd at 5:00 PM! The In-N-Out Cookout Truck is coming to Columbian for our Family Movie Night, featuring The Super Mario Bros. Movie!

Tuesday, August 18th, First Official Day of School

Doors open at 7:40 and school ends at 3:05. Please do not drop your child off before 7:40, as there is no supervision before this time.

Tuesday, August 18th, is the first day of school. This morning, we will have our teachers on the blacktop near the front of the building with their names on a sign. Students will find their teacher’s name and line up with their class. There will be support staff around to help you find your child’s teacher during this time.

For pickup in the afternoon on this day and every day after, students will enter and exit at the designated doors below.

Kindergarten - Doors #5 and #6
1st grade - Door #4 (near the front of the building)
2nd grade - Door #9 (on Bragdon)
3rd grade - Door #10 ( on Bragdon)
4th grade- Door #3 (near the front of the building)
5th grade - Door #13 (near the front of the building)

Parking and Dropoff
The loop in front of the school is for quick drop-offs and pick-ups. Please do not get out of your car and leave it parked in the loop. If you need to get out of your car, please use the parking that is in the parking lot on Palmer.

Bragdon Street will function as a quick drop-off and pick-up area as well. There will be no parking from Door 9 to Mesa Street on the side of the school building. This is the area that will be used for quick pick-up and drop-off.

Please pull up to the curb to let your child out, not in the middle of the street or in the loops, for their safety. Also, please be patient during these times as we have more students this year, and we want to ensure everyone has a safe and calm start to their day.
Thank you again,
Columbian Families

Boys and Girls Club does not begin this week, and it will be held at the Bessemer Site this year. The great news is that there will be after-school busing from Columbian to Boys and Girls club that is held in the Bessemer Building. They have a great site set up there with some of the same staff as last year. This is a great opportunity for our students. There will be flyers with more information coming out soon.
