A new online workshop from Michael Boyd! His first time teaching this workshop in this format!!

Saddles and Straps

Explore non-traditional and unique ways to set secure stones with Michael Boyd. During this workshop Michael will introduce you to two new innovative settings he designed. He will show students his process for setting stones using saddles and straps, a process he has using and developing for the last 25 years. These settings will open you up to new, irregularly shaped stones that would be difficult to set using traditional techniques. This workshop will cover forming a ‘saddle’, drilling holes, carving and polishing grooves, and using tension to strap and lock the stones into place.

After enjoying over five years of wonderful workshops and sharing what we love with great friends and colleagues, we have made the difficult decision to close our studio and will be transitioning to an online only format.

Michael, Ryan and Josiah will continue to operate their individual studios without change, and each will continue to teach workshops around the country and online through multiple institutions.

Our final workshops at our studio will take place in April. We will have our “Rock to Ring” workshop, taking place April 1st and 2nd, which will be taught by Ryan, Michael and Josiah. We will also have Michael’s “Fused Gold Patterns” workshop, April 29th and 30th. These will be the final two workshops we have at our studio.

Along with our studio we will also be closing the Front Room Gallery. We invite everyone to join us for our final First Friday Party, Friday, April 7th, and help give a grand farewell to the studio.

We want to thank everyone who has joined us during this journey. We have loved being able to spend time and share with you the craft we love.
