📢Hello, Morton Families!
🤩Thank you to everyone who attended Back-to-School Night! If you were unable to join us, we are excited to welcome you on Tuesday.

🖍️Kindergarten Transition Day
On Monday, August 17, kindergarten students will attend their assigned 30-minute time slot to meet their teacher and complete a brief assessment. Please contact your child’s teacher through ClassDojo or call the front office with questions.

⏰First Day and Arrival
The first day of school is Tuesday, August 18. Students should be in their classrooms by 7:45 a.m. On Tuesday and Wednesday, teachers will greet students outside from 7:35–7:45 a.m. (See image for map)
➡️Kindergarten and first grade: Front of the school
➡️Grades 2–5: Playground blacktop

⏰Beginning Thursday, August 20, doors will open at 7:35 a.m. Students may enter through the front entrance or the cafeteria door near the playground, pick up breakfast, and go directly to class. Staff will be available to help.

🚗Drop-Off and Pick-Up
The loop in the staff parking lot off Franklin Avenue may be used for morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up. It is for active loading and unloading only.
🚫Please remain in your vehicle and do not park in the loop.
🚶🏼‍♀️‍➡️Families who wish to park and walk with their child should use STREET parking along Franklin Avenue, Colfax Avenue, or 31st Street. A map of arrival and dismissal procedures are posted in the images.

📱District Cell Phone Policy
All personal electronic devices must be powered off and stored out of sight during the school day, including cell phones, smartwatches, headphones, and gaming devices. This applies during instruction, lunch, recess, and transitions. Students may use phones after school for activities and events.
Please review this expectation with your child before Tuesday.

Yesterday’s Back to School Bash was a smashing success — and a great reminder that the first day of school is right around the corner!

Mark your calendars for Tuesday, August 18, as we kick off an exciting new school year. Every student in attendance on the first day will be entered into a drawing for some fabulous prizes!

Remember: Beginning this year, all personal electronic devices — including phones, smartwatches, headphones, and gaming devices — must be turned off and put away during the school day. By unplugging from our devices, we can embrace the analog experience: meaningful, face-to-face connections that boost focus, strengthen communication, and build real-world skills.

Let’s make this the best year yet by being Present, Powerful and Empowered by Reading!

With more than 3,000 attendees at last year's inaugural event, the 2026 Back to School Bash is expected to be even bigger!

𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐚𝐥 𝐢𝐧𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧:
-- Gates open at 5 p.m. for visitors receiving vaccines, haircuts, dental screenings, or face painting.
-- All other gates open at 6 p.m., when guests can enjoy community partner booths, food trucks, interactive experiences, live entertainment, and more.

Free school supplies will be distributed to the first 3,000 students in attendance. Students must be present to receive a backpack.
