When studying Linda Sue Park’s novel, A Long Walk to Water, 7th-grade social studies students engaged in a “Walk to Water” simulation.

Students carried heavy water buckets around school grounds to physically experience the exhausting daily trek endured by character Nya and millions of children in South Sudan.

Meet Susan D'Ambrogi, our Middle School ESS Crew Leader!

"I am originally from Dallas, Texas. I moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado, in 2012, leaving the Dallas Independent School District with 27 years of experience in General and Special Education. I taught Special Education in Colorado Springs for 12 years. I moved to Pueblo in 2024 and taught Middle School Reading and Math for two years. I have a BS in Education, a minor in English, and a Special Education (K-21) Endorsement. I am passionate about helping all my students learn and succeed to the best of their abilities, and I am so excited to be part of the Villa Bella staff this year! I have one son who lives in Colorado Springs. My interests and hobbies include traveling with my husband and two dogs, hiking, skiing, rafting, gardening, photography, and spending time in nature."

We've been incredibly impressed by her endless patience and the creative ways she helps our adolescent learners access rigorous Expeditionary Learning content. She truly sees their unique strengths and knows how to bring out the best in them.
