Pueblo South High Class of 1971 #1

Hello, it's me again! Turns out the 2026 homecoming assembly is on Thursday, Sept. 17 at 10:20 a.m. The game is Friday, Sept. 18 at 7 p.m. The dance will probably be Saturday night, the 19th. So do we want to do Sept.16-20th (Wednesday through Sunday) or 16th-19th (Wednesday- Saturday) for the reunion?

Julie Lockett just reminded me that Pueblo D60 schools don't have classes on Fridays, so we're probably looking at the Homecoming assembly being on Thursday, Sept 17, not Friday the 18th. Four-day reunion, anyone? I'll confirm that tomorrow or Monday and put out revised dates if that's the case!! 😳

Hi, all! We didn't get much input for the reunion dates, but what we got was pretty much overwhelmingly for the September dates (18-20). So we're going to start planning toward that, for people who are out of state or not in Pueblo. You might want to start looking at travel arrangements and local accommodations for those dates. The
Pueblo Chile & Frijoles Festival is that weekend as well, and that brings in a lot of out-of-towners. Though we don't have anythig specifically planned for the 17th, the 18th is a Friday, so most likely, that's when the Homecoming assembly would be, if the game's the night of the 18th. Still working on getting the info for the dance. I've received a suggestion that we look into providing a band for that, and maybe even seeing if we could attend the dance. Any thoughts on that?
We could possibly plan a mixer event for the night of the 17th if enough people would be interesed in that and plan to come into town the day before the reuion actually starts.

Okay, folks that are wondering about the 55th reunion, I have the dates for South's Homecoming and South's Cannon Game this Fall. Homecoming is September 18th. The Cannon Game is October 2nd. Those two dates are two weeks apart. The Pueblo Chile and Frijole Festival is scheduled for September 18-20, so that impacts the cost and availability of lodging in town, but it adds to the activities people have opportunity to attend I like doing the reunion in the Fall, because we're past peak travel and summer tourism and Labor day, and the weather is usually still pretty good. So we need some input on preferable dates for that 55th reunion this year. Please take a moment and respond to the poll on the Pueblo South High School Class of 1971 #2 GROUP, so we can start getting an idea of what works best for the most people. I don't seem to be able to do a poll on this page--apparently you can only do polls in groups, so if you haven't joined that Class of '71 #2 group, please search for it, select it, and since it's a private group, you''ll have to ask to join (and I'll accept your request.) The three options on the poll are
1. South Homecoming, Sept 17 or 18 through Sept 20;
2. South Cannon Game Oct 1 or 2 through Oct 4; and
3. I'd rather do it in the summer.

Hey, classmates! Sorry I've not done a better job of letting folks know what's going on. We're in early planning stages for a 55th reunion in 2026. We'd like to do it in the Fall, around the time of South's homecoming or maybe cannon game. I still haven't heard from the coach on when those are. I know for the 50th, we had the info enough in advance to plan around them. In the meantime, one thing that everybody can do is reach out to anyone from the class with whom you're still in touch or whose whereabouts you know, and make sure they're getting notifications about upcoming plans. Also feel free to give them my contact info or point them to the two active pages (South High School Class of 1971 #1 or #2), and if they haven't joined, have them put in a request to be admitted to the group. It always surprises me how many of our classmates we have no idea how to contact. Thanks! I'll let you know dates as soon as I have them! 🙂♥️
