We also provide Developmental Intervention for families enrolled in the Colorado Early Intervention program. Autism Services of Southern Colorado was founded with a mission to provide services and support for young children with autism through diagnosis, therapy, advocacy, educational support, and family support. We also offer the only certified Play and Language for Autistic Youngsters (PLAY) ser
vices in southern Colorado. PLAY is an evidenced-based early intervention program for young children aged six months to six years. It is an essential foundational step in treating autism in children. PLAY was developed at the University of Michigan by Dr. Richard Solomon, MD, a practicing board-certified Developmental & Behavioral Pediatrician and the Medical Director at The Ann Arbor Center for Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics. The PLAY Project was designed as a cost-effective, practical, therapeutic approach in response to the lack of availability of intensive early intervention services for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder. At the core of the program is the evidence that early intervention helps parents and caregivers become a partner in their childās development leading to successful child and parent outcomes. It offers a reliable model for standard of care for community systems to meet the needs of the growing number of children diagnosed with autism. Ihave spent 30 years working as an Early Childhood Special Educator, Developmental Therapist, PLAY Project Consultant, Kindergarten teacher, advocate, and parent educator. I have worked in both public and Independent schools as well as not-for-profit agencies. My passion was inspired by the iconic Stanley Greenspan during my studies at The George Washington University. I welcome the opportunity to discuss with you how I may support your child and family. Sheerin, M.Ed. PLAY Project Consultant
