SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENT PROFILE
Alexis Padilla, Pueblo East "Eagle Empire", will use a Presidential Scholarship of Merit and a GEAR UP Scholarship to attend Colorado State University Pueblo to major in Elementary Education.

"My time at East has really prepared me for college and becoming an elementary teacher,” Alexis said. “Balancing a 4.2 GPA, taking concurrent enrollment classes at CSUP, and staying involved in Student Council and Yearbook taught me how to manage my time, work with others, lead, and stay creative — all skills I know I’ll need in college and when I’m teaching kids someday.

“I’m so grateful for the amazing teachers at East who helped shape me. Ms. Jackson, my Yearbook advisor, believed in my creativity and pushed me to do my best. Mrs. Smith, my Student Council advisor, taught me how to lead and serve in the community, and Mr. Hatchett, my GEAR UP advisor, always encouraged me and kept me motivated. I’ll never forget everything they did for me.”
