Our first Passages ceremony saw 65 members of the Class of 2030 recognized for completing their middle school journey.
As part of the completion process, the eighth graders presented a "Legacy Portfolio" project that detailed their learning journey at Freed and research into a pressing issue: all part of the Expeditionary Learning model.

Their score put them in third place out of 5 bands in their class! So proud of the progress these students have been making this year. They are laying the foundation for the future of the instrumental program here at Freed.

Our incredible 4th graders took a field expedition to the Royal Gorge in Cañon City for an unforgettable day of hands-on learning.
To bring our Colorado History and Animal Defenses modules to life, students teamed up for an exciting park-wide scavenger hunt to uncover local history and wildlife secrets. The absolute highlight of the trip? Riding the spectacular aerial gondolas across the gorge! A few lucky groups even got to experience the brand-new gondola featuring a clear glass floor for a thrilling, bird's-eye view of the canyon.
The day was filled with adventure, discovery, and first-time learning experiences that our students won’t soon forget!

The 5th grade Decimal Diner brought math to life with a fun Texas Roadhouse themed activity where students used menus to calculate the total cost of different meal combinations. They also worked within a set budget to "purchase" a meal of their choice, practicing decimal operations, money management, and real-world problem-solving skills in an engaging and meaningful way.
A huge shout out to Texas Roadhouse for donating menus, rolls, and meal coupons. As well as their manager and Andy the Armadillo for spending the morning working with our Yetis!!
