This past May a group of BYU Instructional Psychology & Technology (IP&T) students had the opportunity to travel with the BYU-Pathway Worldwide Curriculum Team to Zimbabwe and South Africa! 🌍 They spent time interviewing students, sitting in on focus groups, giving devotionals, and learning what the BYU-Pathway experience is really like for students. They also got to explore incredible places, experience the local culture, and make memories they’ll never forget.

Olivia Osguthorpe shared:
“This trip expanded my learning in so many ways. It strengthened my research and people skills, but more importantly, it showed me how I can better serve through my own discipline. One of BYU’s aims is lifelong learning and service, and this experience helped me better understand that purpose. It also strengthened my faith. Hearing people’s stories reminded me that the Atonement of Jesus Christ truly covers everything.”

The Communication Disorders department officially opened its new Hospital Simulation Room earlier this summer.

Students have the opportunity to practice patient care in a realistic hospital setting, helping them build confidence, strengthen clinical skills and learn to serve with compassion before entering the workforce. We are so excited for this new opportunity to prepare future clinicians to make a meaningful difference.

Another Belonging Field Trip for the books! 🤩🇩🇪

Our students had the incredible opportunity to travel to Germany as we celebrate 150 years of teacher preparation at the McKay School of Education. They walked in the footsteps of Karl G. Maeser, whose vision for Christ-centered education laid the foundation for what has become Brigham Young University today.

Aimee Zirker Peterson shared:

“A big lesson I learned on this trip is the impact one person can have. We learned a lot about Karl G. Maeser and the impact that his teachers made on him, as well as the impact that he had on education in Utah. As I prepare to be a future educator, I want to be intentional with my students and make sure I have a good impact on them.”

This past month, our students took an inspiring learning trip to explore the doctrine of belonging and the history and lasting impact of the Civil Rights Movement. Through this experience, they gained a deeper appreciation for our nation’s history and look forward to sharing these lessons with their future students.
