Time to feature Ellie!
Ellie has been with us since last summer and completed her first set of books well under a year! That's pretty impressive considering she learned 183 pages of music/music related things in about 9-10 months. That doesn't include also working on flashcards, occasionally composing pieces, and some technique/coordination exercises. Ellie is a hard worker, a good listener, and is doing a great job at incorporating dynamics and style into her playing even though she's just getting rolling. Keep it up Ellie! 👊🏻👊🏻👊🏻
Now featuring....Cora! ✨
I wanted to feature Cora because of the rapid growth I've seen in her playing in just a few months! She works very hard, so we've been able to hit vibrato and shifts hard enough to the point that she was able to learn part of Liebesleid for the recital! It's a very difficult piece of music, and she did such a great job at carefully learning it bit by bit.
Despite some significant injuries this past year, she has made amazing progress in her private lessons, gotten into the Chamber Orchestra for next year, and even came out to a bluegrass jam last night where she did a stellar job at following the chord changes by ear!!!! 🙌🏻🔥 REALLY impressed with her work ethic and progress, keep it up! 🥳

At the time of making this video, Aubrey had only been playing guitar for three months. Despite being a busy high schooler, she has learned several songs on the guitar, improvised at a bluegrass jam session, performed in a recital, and now she's learning bar chords so she can play Jack Johnson songs! I've been so impressed by her willingness to try new things and not back away from challenging concepts. I'm excited to see what else she can pull off this year!

Jacob, my student, sat in on piano at the Utah Valley Jazz Jam for his first time last week! He's been absorbing jazz theory and improvisation like a sponge!
