Rebekah, Hunter, David, and Marissa did an excellent job managing high winds for every class. Congratulations to this group!

Another great group passing our basic learn to sail course. Owen, Julie, Brinley, and Justin had fun navigating low winds and high winds!

Sydney, Kali, and Jon certified in our basic learn to sail class finishing last week. They probably win the prize for the best consistent wind in a course! This group was so much fun.

Hayden, Jessi, and Giro had an excellent learn to sail course with Melanie. They all caught on quickly and are ready for their next sailing adventures. Congratulations to this great group!

We are excited about the upcoming Utah Lake Regatta!

Our 16th Catalina trip was a great success. Heidi, Nate, and Gage all received their Bareboat charter certificate for a catamaran! We had a wonderful time sailing from Long Beach to Two Harbors on Catalina island. We moored for the night and the next morning sailed to Avalon where we spent another night on a mooring ball. Our last day we sailed back to Long Beach and spent the night at the dock. We had a lot of fog conditions and learned to rely on our AIS, radar, and loud fog horn systems. Thank you Todd for another amazing experience sailing on the great blue waters.

2025 Winter Sailing Seminars

We are thrilled to come together as sailors, countdown the days until sailing season, and learn from one another. Whether you are an experienced sailor or just starting out, whether you have a boat, dream of owning one, or sail on any lake, you are welcome to join us!

January 30: “Chartering in the Sea of Cortez”
We start our series by hearing from Gary Ekker as he teaches us about chartering in the Sea of Cortez.

February 6: “Race experience and tactics”
Roger Crosland will teach us about his many experiences racing in San Diego.

February 20: “Francesca Clapcich” We are honored and excited to have:
Professional athlete Francesca Clapcich is one of the world’s most versatile sailors. She has twice represented Italy at both the London (finishing 19th) and Rio (finishing 5th) Olympic Games in the Laser and 49erFX classes respectively; was the first Italian woman to compete in the Solitaire du Figaro; and has raced around the world twice in The Ocean Race, becoming the first Italian to win the notoriously challenging race in the 2022-23 edition. She is the very first female skipper to compete in the Ocean Fifty Series, leading the all-female team UpWind by MerConcept, and she will compete in the Puig Women’s America’s Cup for American Magic in October 2024. Her next big goal is to compete in the 2028 Vendée Globe, sailing solo and non-stop around the planet.

February 27: “Set Sail on Utah Lake: Your complete guide to sailing adventures”
Everything you need to know to join us in all the sailing activities on Utah Lake this year. Whether you are a seasoned sailor or beginner you won’t want to miss this.

March 6th “The Utah Lake Authority”
One of the favorite presentations of the year where Sam Braegger will tell us about what improvements are going on with the lake.

This is a free to the public,community service lecture series offered by the Bonneville School of Sailing and Seamanship,with the hopes of promoting sailing here in the desert and beyond.
