Learning goes beyond the classroom for our MOT Bridge students.

During July's Intensive Learning Week, students learned from guest lecturer Rita Knesel, MSOT, OTR/L, who introduced her developing occupational therapy frame of reference, ReBOPP, for supporting individuals recovering from stroke and other upper motor neuron syndromes.

From hands-on labs to meaningful discussions, students explored new approaches to motor recovery and critical thinking, and learned how occupational therapists help people regain independence through everyday activities. Experiences like these give our students the opportunity to learn from leaders in the field while building the skills they'll bring into clinical practice.

A great start to the week as our Doctor of Occupational Therapy (OTD) students designed and created their own cognitive rehabilitation tools.

This hands-on experience helps prepare future occupational therapists to apply evidence-based strategies in real-world practice.

Cognitive rehabilitation tools help strengthen skills like memory, attention, and problem-solving.

Our MS MedSLP students have partnered with Readers Theater, to prepare local children for their upcoming performance, by helping build props and supporting the creative process.

Experiences like this give RMU students valuable hands-on opportunities to apply classroom knowledge while developing skills in communication, collaboration, and pediatric practice. Readers Theater helps develop children’s reading fluency, expressive language, confidence, and teamwork through interactive, performance-based learning.
