The Physical Education Teacher Education (PETE) major is designed to license K-12 PE teachers & coaches based on the latest research and creative thinking.
The Physical Education Teacher Education (PETE) major is designed to provide each student with the necessary content knowledge and instructional skills to become a K-12 certified physical educator and coach using an innovative approach based on the latest research and creative thinking. With this innovative approach the major is focused on helping major students develop healthy and active lifestyl
e management (HALM) skills. This recent focus expands the undergraduate skill set to include advocacy skills along with more background in nutrition. Individuals interested in a masters degree with an emphasis in PETE can now pursue such a degree through the MA degree in the Teacher Education Department. Those choosing the PETE strand of this degree will enhance their understanding of PETE research, improve their practice, and be well prepared to pursue a doctoral degree in PETE if that is their desire. The purpose of this social networking effort is to communicate more effectively with current and/or future students, BYU PETE alumni, and any others with interest in the PETE program. We invite all those interested in the PETE program to utilize this opportunity to communicate in a more timely fashion about current issues, trends, employment opportunities, research, etc. Thanks for your interest and support of the BYU PETE program!
