Join us Friday, September 11 from 6–8 PM in the Stanley Kunitz Common Room for a screening of The Painted Life of Gregory Gillespie, followed by a conversation with Gillespie's widow Peggy Gillespie, along with artists Tabitha Vevers, Bert Yarborough, and Barbara Cohen.

Gregory Gillespie (1936–2000) was a master of surreal, haunting painting whose work lives in the collections of the Met, the Whitney, and the Hirshhorn. Gillespie was part of our own FAWC community, teaching in our Workshop program and serving on our Visual Committee. This award-winning documentary digs into his extraordinary and complicated artistic life through rare archival footage and interviews with those who knew him best.

2026 Summer Workshops are a wrap!

It’s hard to believe, but today is the final day of our Summer Workshop Program. This year, FAWC offered 64 incredible workshops taught by 67 instructors over 9 creativity-filled weeks!

The Fine Arts Work Center is looking to fill two full-time positions on our team: a Fellowship Director and a Development and Administrative Assistant.

The Fellowship Director provides strategic and operational leadership for our signature Fellowship program, helping shape the artistic vision that has supported over 1,100 writers and visual artists since 1968. The Development and Administrative Assistant supports our Development and Administrative teams with day-to-day operations that keep FAWC running behind the scenes.

Fine Arts Work Center Fellow Avigayl Sharp (2023-2024) makes her debut this year with Offseason, a novel she began writing during her time in Provincetown. Longlisted for the 2026 First Novel Prize, the book follows an unreliable narrator at an elite girls' boarding school, where memory, desire, and self-mythology blur together.

In a new interview with Debutiful's "My Reading Life" series, Sharp discusses the books that shaped her: the Alberto Moravia novellas she read during adolescence, Janet Malcolm's Psychoanalysis: The Impossible Profession, and a syllabus of "Damn Good Writing" spanning James Salter, Muriel Spark, Gwendolyn Brooks, and Fernanda Melchor.

We were thrilled to gather at the stunning Pilgrim Monument and Provincetown Museum this past Saturday to celebrate Leading with Creativity.

On behalf of FAWC, we want to thank everyone who supported the Work Center and our mission to nurture artists and enrich our community. We were delighted to toast our honorees: feminist painter Mira Schor, Pulitzer-Prize-winning poet Marie Howe, Michael Prodanou, for his outstanding commitment to the Fine Arts Work Center; and our Design Collective, comprising Bruce Skiles Danzer, David Croteau, Keith Leblanc, and Matthew Cole.

Special thanks to DJ Chris Roxx and the Dirty Rotten Vipers, our talented host Jaren Bowen, fellow Calhan Hale, and LGBT activist and screenwriter Celeste Lecense for making the night unforgettable.
