A special visit this week at Our Lady of Providence Seminary.

Bishop Robert J. McManus, Bishop of Worcester and former Rector of the seminary, joined the community on Wednesday, April 22 to celebrate Mass with the seminarians.

Grateful for his presence, his priestly witness, and his continued support of vocations.

Seminarians from across our sending dioceses—Providence, Boston, Hartford, Rochester, Worcester, Manchester, Syracuse, Brooklyn, Springfield, and Fall River—visited St. Michael the Archangel Parish in Winthrop this month with Fr. Patrick O’Connor of the Archdiocese of Boston, who now serves at Our Lady of Providence Seminary.

Each month, they travel to a different parish to share the story of vocation and invite others to listen for God’s call.

Pray for these men, and pray that more hearts may be open to hearing and following where the Lord leads. 🙏

We were honored to welcome Bishop Robert Brennan of the Diocese of Brooklyn, NY, to Our Lady of Providence Seminary yesterday, April 15, as he celebrated Mass with our community.

We are reminded that Christ is the light who comes into the world—not to condemn, but to save. The call to step into that light, to live in truth, and to be transformed by God’s love is at the heart of every vocation.

For our seminarians, this message resonates deeply. The journey to the priesthood is a daily “yes” to the light—choosing Christ, embracing truth, and preparing to bring that same light to others through a life of service.

We are grateful for Bishop Brennan’s visit and his witness to the joy and responsibility of shepherding God’s people.

We were grateful to have Bishop Bruce celebrate the Holy Thursday Mass of the Lord’s Supper with our seminary community.

The Altar of Repose will remain open for prayer until 11 PM. All are welcome to come and spend time with the Lord.

On this night, Christ gives Himself completely—and calls His apostles to do the same. In washing their feet, He reveals that the priesthood is not about status, but about sacrificial love and humble service.

In the seminary, this is the mystery we seek to enter more deeply each day: to be configured to Christ, the Eternal High Priest, whose self-gift is made present in every Mass. Formation is not only intellectual or pastoral—it is a gradual transformation of the heart, learning to love “to the end.”

As we accompany the Lord to the altar of repose tonight, we pray for the grace to remain with Him, to be faithful in His Passion, and to be formed ever more fully into His likeness.

May this Holy Thursday renew in our seminarians—and in all of us—a deeper love for the Eucharist and a more generous response to Christ’s call to serve.

Holy Thursday: The Beginning of the Sacred Triduum

Today, on Holy Thursday, we enter the heart of the Church’s Holiest Week. On this day, we remember the Last Supper, when Jesus washed the feet of His disciples, instituted the Eucharist and the priesthood, and gave us the new commandment: to love one another as He has loved us.

In the Eucharist, Christ’s sacrifice, His love, and His teaching continue to be made real in our midst. Every time we celebrate Mass, we are drawn into the mystery of His Paschal journey: His suffering, death, and resurrection.

During tonight’s liturgy, we witness the washing of feet, reminding us that service and love are at the heart of discipleship. As the Blessed Sacrament is carried to the altar of repose, we are invited into quiet adoration, accompanying Christ as He prays in the Garden of Gethsemane. Later, the stripping of the altar reminds us that Christ has entered His Passion, and we await the glory of Easter.

May this Holy Thursday draw each of us deeper into the love of Christ, filling our hearts with charity, humility, and the hope of new life.

"Holy Thursday is a day of gratitude and of joy for the great gift of love to the end that the Lord has given to us. We want to pray to the Lord at this time, so that gratitude and joy may become in us the power of loving together with his love." - Pope Benedict XVI

On the Solemnity of the Annunciation of the Lord, we were honored to welcome Archbishop Henning to Our Lady of Providence Seminary.

Archbishop Henning celebrated Mass with our community and spent time with our seminarians, offering encouragement and sharing in the joy of their formation. As we reflect on Mary’s “yes” to God’s will, we are reminded of the call each seminarian is discerning and embracing.

Please join us in praying for our seminarians and for all those called to serve the Church.

Our Lady of Providence Seminary was grateful to travel to Washington, DC for this year’s March for Life. Seminarians and members of our community traveled together to stand in peaceful witness to the dignity of every human life and to pray for mothers, children, and families.

As St. John Paul II reminded us, “Human life must be respected and protected absolutely from the moment of conception.” We were honored to lift our voices in hope, prayer, and solidarity—affirming that every life is a gift, created in God’s image and worthy of love and protection.

Thank you to all who joined us in prayer and in person. Together, we continue to witness to the Gospel of Life.
