Our Leadership Team, Board Chair, and a small group of staff members across different departments participated in a CliftonStrengths orientation and training through Leadership Rhode Island, facilitated by Sterling Clinton and Renzo Arteta.
Together, we explored our Top 5 CliftonStrengths, reflected on how our strengths shape the way we communicate and lead, and discussed how they show up in the workplace and when collaborating as a team.
It was an engaging and insightful opportunity that allowed us to build stronger connections, deepen our understanding of one another, and strengthen the way we work together in service of our students and Community Prep.

After 42 years of leadership and unwavering dedication, our founder and Head of School, Dan Corley, was celebrated by the community he built one final time before officially retiring (again!).
At graduation, Dan was surprised with a heartfelt tribute as students in grades 4–7 formed a giant semicircle around the gym, holding handmade signs, cheering him on, and high-fiving him as he made his way around the room. It was so special for students to congratulate him on his retirement and thank him for creating the community they are proud to call home! ❤️

We loved welcoming our newest families to Community Prep for New Family Orientation! Caregivers and incoming students had the opportunity to learn more about Community Prep’s after-school and athletics programs, social-emotional support services, creative arts offerings, Read to Succeed, uniforms, and ways to get involved through the Community Prep Caregivers Committee. Families also heard from our new Head of School, Dolph Clinton ‘88, who shared his excitement about joining the Community Prep community and welcoming our newest Cougars. We can’t wait to begin an exciting school year together in August! 📚✏️📓

Congratulations to Community Preparatory School’s Class of 2026! 🎓🎉
Surrounded by friends, family, teachers, and supporters, our graduates crossed the stage and marked the end of one chapter and the beginning of another. We are so proud of all they have achieved and can’t wait to see where their journeys take them next!
The ceremony also included a special moment as Dan Corley received an honorary degree and crossed the stage one final time before officially retiring. (More photos of that soon!)

Our students are officially Food Waste Warriors! 🌎♻️ This year, Community Prep’s Student Council led a school-wide composting and waste-sorting initiative, which every student took part in by helping sort food scraps, recyclables, and landfill waste during lunch.
Yesterday, Sylvia and Shelly from the Rhode Island School Recycling Project visited Community Prep to recognize all of our students’ hard work and present a group of them with Food Waste Warrior certificates.
We were thrilled to learn:
🌱 Our daily cafeteria waste sent to the landfill dropped from 21.8lbs to 2.2lbs, making an 89% reduction in landfill waste!
🌱 CP reduced food waste per student by 60%!

It was an AMAZING season for Cougar Track & Field! 👟 In our very first year competing in the Rhode Island Interscholastic League, our athletes proved they belong among the best in the state. After earning a Bronze team medal at the divisional championships, the Cougars headed to the RIIL Middle School State Championships at Rhode Island College and delivered an incredible performance!
Our athletes brought home state medals in six events:
Boys 100m
Boys 200m
Boys 4x400m Relay
Girls 200m
Girls 400m
Girls Discus
A special shoutout to seventh-grader MJ, whose clutch 75’7” discus throw earned her 5th place in the state! 🏆
We also would like to thank Coaches Chris Love and Tatyana Cobbin for their dedication, energy, and commitment to helping our athletes grow and succeed all season long!
