It's Naivember. This has been one of the hardest months of the year for me for the last five years. November is the month she was initially diagnosed and it is sadly the month we lost her almost 2 years ago. Im trying to find ways to help myself get through this time because despite how I may feel mentally, my responsibilities aren't going away.
So I'm going to find ways to honor her as much as I can this month. Feel free to do the same. Indulge in donuts and croissants. Binge watch the Simpsons or stranger things. Curl up with in your robe and a good book.
If it moves you to please feel free to make a donation in her honor to one of her favorite places

It was an exciting morning in Ward 11, as Councilwoman Mary Kay Harris celebrated the groundbreaking of a brand-new arts and athletics facility at Community Preparatory School. Some familiar faces joined the festivities, including Governor Dan McKee and Providence College Mens Basketball coach Ed Cooley. Construction is set to begin next month, and wrap by November of 2023.

Why yes, that was Head of School Noni Thomas López joining the board of Trinity Repertory Company. Trinity is one of three local organizations where she serves as trustee; she's on the boards of Community Preparatory School and Inspiring Minds too, as well as NAIS -- National Association of Independent Schools, the AISNE for Schools, and the Headmistresses Association of the East.

She's just one of the dozens of Gordonians who have been in the spotlight lately. Read more at http://ow.ly/K52d30rNSpX

Do mountains last forever? 🗻 Grade 4/5 is conducting a lab to explore weathering — how solid rocks break into smaller pieces. In this lab, students use sugar cubes as a model for rocks. Through lots of sugar shaking, students will discover why the tops of mountains are jagged, yet their bottoms are rounded.

The ideal that guides Community Prep is Martin Luther King Jr.’s vision of the “Beloved Community” - widely different groups of people bound together with love and respect, working toward a just society and understanding that our differences are our strength. Our goal is to nurture and sustain an environment in which all ─students, alumni, families, faculty, staff, trustees, volunteers and visitors─ are recognized and valued both as members of the school community and as irreplaceable individuals.
