We are incredibly thankful for Annajane Yolken, Dennis Bailer, and Ashley Perry from Project Weber/RENEW for sharing their deep insights about activism and opportunities in Rhode Island at the intersection of policing and public health at the Graduate Student Council (GSC) sponsored event.
The GSC will match up to $500 in donations to Project Weber/RENEW, so we would encourage our members of the audience to consider donating to the phenomenal organization that our speakers represent. Donations can be submitted here: https://www.paypal.com/donate/?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=NAH73XH335BJA
Project Weber/RENEW is a peer-based organization that provides a full range of harm reduction, recovery, and basic needs services to men, women, and transgender members of our community. The direct services provided by Project Weber/RENEW include overdose prevention, harm reduction, HIV/Hep C prevention and testing, case management, basic needs, support groups, and access to health and recovery services. Your donation – no matter how small – along with the Graduate Student Council match of up to $500 will go a long way to improve the health and well-being of people belonging to really vulnerable groups in Rhode Island, so we hope that you will consider donating.

TODAY, please join Brown's School of Public Health's Graduate Student Council, as we volunteer with the Rhode Island Coalition for the Homeless for a “Point in Time Count”!
Specifically, today, Monday (Jan 25th) and Wednesday (Jan 27th), we will be working with the Coalition in order to help them get an accurate number of homeless people in the state, which is then given to the Department of Housing and Urban Development to tabulate national statistics!
If interested, here is some more information:
The training is today, Monday, January 25th, at 5pm at the Coalition (address: 1070 Main St. Pawtucket 02860). This meeting will likely only take 30 minutes, and if interested, please email [email protected], so that we can put your name down and arrange for transportation to get you there.
The “Point in Time Count” is then on Wednesday, January 27th, at 6pm at Burnside Park. The event ends at 9pm, but may be shorter depending on how many people are outside. Again, if interested, please email [email protected], so that we can put your name down and arrange transportation as well.
We hope you can join us, and if so, please email us back!
