Helping students recover from the learning disruptions of recent years takes more than one solution—it takes intentional, student-centered strategies that meet students where they are.
In a recent Ocean State Stories article by Stephanie Bernaba, educators from The Compass School and Segue Institute for Learning shared how they're helping students thrive by:
📚 Using technology intentionally
🏫 Building a strong culture of attendance
☀️ Preventing summer learning loss
At The Compass School, hands-on learning and a strong school culture help drive some of the highest science proficiency rates in Rhode Island.
At Segue Institute for Learning, close partnerships with families helped the school achieve the second-lowest rate of chronic absenteeism among Rhode Island public schools in 2025–26.
These are just two examples of how are creating learning environments where students can succeed. Read the full story: https://bit.ly/4vM5kJc
