For National Rhode Island Day, we're celebrating the Ocean State and the place Brown Pre-College calls home.

Sharing Instructor Successes: Dr. Hayley Treloar Padovano

Brown Pre-College Programs instructor and Brown University School of Public Health Associate Professor, Dr. Hayley Treloar Padovano, helped lead a study which offered patients free screenings for risk factors and liver disease at a community health clinic. The study found that liver screenings at health clinics can help save lives.

"Liver disease is silently progressing, but completely preventable with lifestyle change [and] behavior change, and we can provide behavioral interventions for that."

This past summer, Dr. Treloar Padovano taught the Brown Pre-College Course, 'Becoming You: Human Development Across the Lifespan.'

Zadie K. conducted original research on black holes 🌌 in her Brown Pre-College 2026 course, 'Machine Learning for Physics and Astronomy: A New Way to Explore the Universe.'

Course Highlight: Hands-On Medicine: A Week in the Life of a Medical Student 🏥⚕️

Come with me, Ellie, to see what a typical week is like in one of Brown Pre-College's most popular courses, Hands-On Medicine! This one-week Summer@Brown course helps students learn the fundamentals of medicine with current medical students in Brown University's Warren Alpert Medical School.

From learning anatomy and physiology to performing physical exams, this course is anything but boring! Students leave this course with a better understanding of whether or not they'd like to persue medical studies in college and beyond.
