TODAY! Eric J. Tchetgen Tchetgen, Ph.D., will be a speaker at the Brown Biostatistics Statistics Seminar and C.V. Starr Foundation Lectureship Series from 12:00pm-1:00pm at Brown University School of Public Health in room 245 and via zoom.

- Eric J. Tchetgen Tchetgen, Ph.D., is a Professor of Biostatistics in Biostatistics and Epidemiology, Professor of Statistics and Data Science in the Department of Statistics and Data Science at The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

Dr. Tchetgen Tchetgen's area of interest is in semi-parametric efficiency theory with application to causal inference, missing data problems, statistical genetics and mixed model theory. In general, he works on the development of statistical and epidemiologic methods that make efficient use of the information in data collected by scientific investigators, while avoiding unnecessary assumptions about the underlying data generating mechanism.

Happening today! Mike Irvine, Ph.D., will be a speaker at the Brown Biostatistics Statistics Seminar and C.V. Starr Foundation Lectureship Series via zoom from 12:00pm-1:00pm.

- Our first speaker for the semester is Mike Irvine, Ph.D.
Mike Irvine is a Senior Scientist in Data & Analytics Services at BCCDC, Adjunct Professor at UBC Faculty of Science and SFU Faculty of Health Sciences.
Dr. Irvine's work lies at the interface between mathematical modelling, biostatistics and machine learning. He incorporates a broad range of techniques into his work, including Bayesian evidence synthesis methods that can utilize disparate data sources to provide insight for disease epidemiology and broader public health applications. His work has supported the evaluation of a number of interventions, including within: vector-borne disease, sexually transmitted and blood-borne infections, respiratory infections and opioid-related overdose.
