FRIARS CLAIM THE NO. 1 SEED FOR THE FIRST TIME IN PROGRAM HISTORY

Following tonight’s games, the Providence College Friars have won at least a share of the Hockey East Regular Season Championship and have secured the No. 1 seed in the Hockey East Tournament.

NBC Sports president Rick Cordella ’99 just wrapped up what’s been dubbed “Legendary February” — airing the Super Bowl, the NBA All-Star Game, and the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics, all in the same month.

Last summer, while in Paris preparing for the Olympics, Cordella received a 2 a.m. phone call that NBC would bring the NBA back to the network for the first time since 2002 — a special moment for the former Friar basketball walk-on and lifelong sports fan. 🤍🖤🏀
