WHY MARK 27 JANUARY HOLOCAUST MEMORIAL DAY? | Holocaust Memorial Day Trust 01/27/2017

Today, January 27, marks the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau, and is recognized as International Holocaust Remembrance Day. A yahrtzeit candle was lit in the lobby of the Brown RISD Hillel this morning in memorial of those who perished in the Holocaust and in subsequent genocides. Students may light shabbat candles from the flame of the yahrtzeit candle this evening if they so wish.

Regardless of one's background or creed, understanding the Holocaust is now more important than ever as we similar crimes against humanity continue throughout the world today.
