During last week's graduation, student speaker Avalina shared how she came to understand the meaning of sisterhood at Sophia: “I didn’t just know what sisterhood meant. I had found one. On Thursday we celebrated the graduation of 14 remarkable young women as they completed their Sophia Academy journey and joined our growing alum community. We are incredibly proud of all they have accomplished and excited to see what comes next. This fall, our graduates will continue their educational journeys at outstanding high schools including Bayview, Classical, Lincoln, Moses Brown, and more.

Summer reading just got a little more exciting! 📚☀️ A huge thank you to Read to Succeed & Cox Communications for delivering summer reading books to our students. Their generosity will help our students stay connected to the joy of reading throughout the summer.

From May 26-29, Sophia Academy students spent our annual Arts Intensive Week learning from incredible visiting artists in filmmaking, hip hop, Latin dance, spoken word, and visual arts. Made possible in part through the support of the Rhode Island State Council on the Arts (RISCA), this week provided students with meaningful opportunities to explore their creativity, develop new skills, and learn from professional artists. The week ended with an amazing showcase that included dance performances, a student-produced film, and more!

Students in Mrs. Moniz’s 6th grade math class are exploring mathematical circles through a creative project using strings and hammers. A hands-on way to bring geometry, creativity, and problem-solving together in the classroom!

Congratulations to Sophia Academy's Science Teacher, Alyssa Wood on receiving the Garden Club’s Elizabeth Abernathy Hull Award, in recognition of her exceptional dedication to fostering scientific curiosity and respect for the natural world through innovative and joyful teaching. Way to go Ms. Wood!
