The RI STEM Center, located on the second floor of the Henry Barnard School on campus, opened in February, 2009, with funding provided by a mix of state and federal sources. Additionally, the Governor’s Office committed funds for developing the infrastructure to enhance public communication and outreach to businesses, parents, and communities regarding STEM education in Rhode Island.

In a surprise celebration earlier today RIDE, Rhode Island STEAM Center at Rhode Island College, Rhode Island Energy, and Central Falls Schools officials presented High School teacher Alison Murray with the 2022 RI STEAM Educator Award. Murray is known as an innovative, engaging educator who empowers students. Murray, who has been teaching in Rhode Island public schools for more than a decade, is known to her colleagues as an innovative, engaging educator who empowers students, advocates for multilingual learners, and continuously inspires her peers.
