On Friday we said goodbye to Spira 2018. It was a bitter sweet day filled with rockets, final 3D prints, and pizza! The last 4 weeks have been incredible and we’re already excited for next year!

Yesterday, Spira took a trip to Dassault Systèmes to learn about the company and the art of simulation! Thank you, Dassault, for your continued involvement with Spira—you make this amazing experience possible!

Thank you to the Rhode Island Nuclear Science Center for having Spira today! The girls got to see a real nuclear reactor, determine an unknown metal using gamma spectroscopy, and use a Geiger counter to detect radioactivity. It was a “BLAST”!

We wrapped up week 1 with tours of Professor Kareen Coulombe’s biomedical research lab and the solar farm on the roof of Brown University’s Nelson Fitness Center!

Yesterday’s trip to the Pawtucket Hydropower Dam was a blast. A huge Thank-You to Gravity Renewables for taking the time to show our girls the beauty of environmental engineering!

Last night, Spira 2017 came to a close. It was an incredible month of engineering with our campers and we couldn't be more proud!
Thank you to Whole Foods Market for providing us with one last meal together this summer as we reminisced about the past four weeks and admired our campers' hard work!
