Who I Am Regarding My Cultural Identity | Teen Ink
As a young black adolescent living in America in the twenty-first century, many people make assumptions about me through a quick glance. When others guess who I am and how I act based on the melanin of my skin, they affirm my belief that the world wi

To address concerns of East Side families whose children travel to high school via public transportation, RIPTA has temporarily extended its existing bus route #1 to include a Classical High School stop.
The route will pick up passengers at Hope and Olney Streets at 7:34 a.m., then proceed north on Hope Street, with its last stop at Hope Street and Chace Avenue at 7:41 a.m. It will then travel non-stop to Classical, arriving at 7:55 a.m. Because the route moves northerly along Hope Street, it is important that students board the bus on the east side of the street.
This route will be operational as of Monday morning.

Dear Members of the Classical Community:
I wish to welcome you all back from what was hopefully a restful and peaceful summer break; summer is a time to re-charge the batteries and get ready for the upcoming school year. One major change this year is our start and end times; school will begin at 8:00 am and conclude at 2:45 pm this upcoming year, please see our website for bell and class times.
We have several educational initiatives on tap for this year that will truly add to and compliment what we do at Classical. We have added Advanced Placement Computer Science and have expanded our Advanced Placement World History programs due to increasing student interest.
If you have not heard by now, we are in the midst of electrical upgrades and an improved light and sound system in our auditorium. Our cafeteria is also receiving some much needed improvements including new paint, lighting, flooring and seating. We hope to have these initiatives completed by September. These improvements to our physical plant are wholeheartedly welcomed and will be used by the Classical Community for years to come.
By the way, our athletic teams will be up and running soon and we look forward to a very productive and rewarding Fall season. If you are an incoming freshman and have not signed up for a fall sports team, please contact the school and visit our website for important dates, contact information and schedules.
On Tuesday, September 20, 2016 we will be holding our annual Open House in the evening; from 6:30pm to 8:30pm. Teachers will be available to give a general overview of our courses and answer any questions you may have.
Finally, I would like to thank all of you; students, parents, teachers and staff for all of the positive contributions you make to our school. Classical is an excellent high school, according to US News and World Report we are the top high school in the state of Rhode Island. On behalf of our teachers and staff—Welcome back!
Sincerely,
Scott D. Barr
Principal
