Our Educator Pathway Program (EPP) is officially underway!

After Orientation Night, Cohort 1 and Cohort 2 participants have begun their journey toward becoming certified classroom teachers.

We are honored to walk alongside these inspiring future educators as they take this next step. Throughout their time in the program, EPP participants receive comprehensive, wraparound support designed to help them thrive from day one:

-Individualized Coaching tailored to their unique teaching goals
-Community Convenings to build connection, trust, and peer networks
-Instructional Training Offerings grounded in culturally responsive pedagogy
-Targeted Test Prep Support to navigate certification requirements with confidence
-Financial Stipends to reduce barriers and invest directly in their success

Building a stronger, more representative educator workforce starts with investing in local talent and growing our own.

A couple of weeks ago, we gathered for our Educator Preparation Program (EPP) Orientation, bringing together Cohorts 1 and 2 for an evening filled with community and learning!

Co-Founder and CEO Karla Vigil kicked off the evening with a warm welcome, followed by words of wisdom from Commissioner Angélica Infante-Green, who reminded us of the vital importance of pursuing classroom teaching and serving as a guiding light for students.

Our future educators had the opportunity to connect with one another, meet their dedicated Pathway Coaches, and dive into essential instructional sessions.

A huge thank you to all of our incredible coaches, partners, and funders who make this work possible.

Welcome back!

As a new school year kicks off, it’s time to gather, reconnect, and ground our work in what matters most: supporting our youth.

Join us on September 24th for In the Classroom, For the Community—an evening to listen to real stories, break bread, and meet with fellow educators, paraprofessionals, and leaders.

We’re honored to feature three inspiring voices:

-Tyesha Forbes (Special Education Educator & EPP Participant) on creating inclusive learning spaces.
-Naissa Isaro (Co-Founder of CivilTea) on building meaningful dialogue across classrooms.
-Carla Molina (Educator, Financial Literacy Youth Initiative) on equipping young people with essential life skills.

On September 10th, we’re bringing together our new and returning cohort members, partners, and funders for the official Educator Pathway Program (EPP) Orientation!

Whether starting Year 1 or stepping into Year 2, our participants will connect with the community, meet their coaches, and map out their path to becoming certified classroom teachers.

We're backing our people with coaching, stipends, and real-world training, including:

-AI for Lesson Planning & Instruction
-Writing High-Quality IEP Goals
-Building Literacy Skills in the Classroom

As the new school year begins, Equity Institute extends a warm welcome back to all classroom teachers, teacher assistants, and aspiring educators.

Teaching is vital work, and honoring the profession requires direct investment. We continue to deepen our commitment to Teacher Assistants in guiding them step-by-step toward full teacher certification and Aspiring Educators in equipping them with the pathways and support to launch their teaching careers.

We know that when we invest in educators, we can transform outcomes for our young learners.

Small conversations lead to big change.

We’re so excited to introduce our new Conversation Cards!

Grounded in adrienne maree brown’s Emergent Strategy principles, this card deck is intentionally designed to facilitate meaningful relationship-building and growth across every space we enter.

We will be using them at our upcoming community meetups and providing them to our Educator Pathway participants to bring them into school communities.

These cards are here to deepen reflection and strengthen connections—from middle school classrooms to teacher professional development.

Congratulations to our Chief Executive Officer, Karla E. Vigil, who has been appointed to the Met Board of Trustees!

For Karla, this appointment is deeply personal. Having watched two of her children attend and graduate from The Met, she has seen firsthand the impact of the school’s unique, student-centered approach to education.

In this new role, Karla is committed to deepening her support for the Met community and supporting the students.

We're pausing hosting our meetups for the summer but save the date for the first meetup of the school year taking place on Thursday, September 24th.

A closer look at the customized Seeds of Impact packets designed for our Educator Pathway Program! 🌱🎨

Every detail of this design was intentional—featuring vibrant, wildflowers.

The seeds were part of the care packages sent to our cohort at our final convening as a tangible reminder of their first year.
Centering our work from a growth perspective means recognizing that real change starts small.

We wanted everyone to take a piece of this community home with them, plant these seeds, and watch a physical representation of their consistent, daily impact bloom in their own backyards.
