Considering the jaw-dropping immensity of our Universe, very thankful to be here, on this tiny blue dot... Happy Thanksgiving!

The scale of the universe Carl Sagan told us that there are more stars in the universe than there are grains of sand on all of the Earth's beaches. At the same time, there are more H2...

Interstellar exploration, yeah we got that... NASA has confirmed that, for the first time ever, something made with human hands has exited our solar system. This site has some cool interactive stuff about Voyager 1, which continues to careen into outer space while beaming back information about what lies beyond...

Voyager's epic journey: How long would it take you? Nasa's Voyager 1 spacecraft is on target to become the first man-made object to leave our Solar System. It has taken 35 years to get there. How long would it take you?

The next Transit of Venus will be on Tue. June 5th, just before sunset.

This will not be visible again until December 2117 and December 2125.

Transit of Venus A transit of Venus across the Sun takes place when the planet Venus passes directly between the Sun and a superior planet, becoming visible against (and hence obscuring a small portion of) the solar disk. During a transit, Venus can be seen from Earth as a small black disk moving across the face of the Sun. The duration of such transits is usually several hours (the transit of 2012 lasted 6 hours and 40 minutes). A transit is similar to a solar eclipse by the Moon. While the diameter of Venus is more than 3 times that of the Moon, Venus appears smaller, and travels more slowly across the face of the Sun, because it is much farther away from Earth.
