Share your Voice for Trans Health Equity - Survey and Paid Interview Opportunity

go.Brown.edu/TransResearch

A team of trans and cisgender researchers affiliated with Brown University, Yale University, and Fenway Health (see our Meet the Team attachment) is currently recruiting trans people to share their experiences by completing a survey about their everyday lives, including their health and healthcare. Findings from this needs assessment study will be used to educate policymakers, healthcare workers, and the broader community about the health needs and concerns of the trans community and advocate for legal protections and better access to care with the goal of improving the health and well-being of trans people in the U.S.

The needs assessment survey takes about 35 minutes. If you are eligible, you can complete the survey online or call the team, and they can ask you the questions. If you are eligible and take the survey, you will have the choice of being entered into a raffle and the chance to win one of 54 gift cards ranging in value from $10 to $250. Some people will also be asked to do a paid follow-up interview if they are interested.

You may be eligible to participate in this survey if you:

- Are transgender, genderqueer, non-binary, gender non-conforming, and/or have a gender identity that is different from your assigned s*x at birth
- Are 18 years of age or older
- Have lived in the United States for 3 months in the past year
- Had Medicare or Medicaid in the past year

A note from Angelica, our wonderful Leadership Alliance summer intern!

“Hello, my name is Angelica, and I’m from Mississippi. Being part of The Leadership Alliance has opened a remarkable door for me, allowing me to intern at Brown University’s School of Public Health. This opportunity has been truly life-changing, offering me a chance to explore beyond my usual expertise.

Working with the FRESH Lab has been a profound experience. Engaging with the community and seeing the many layers of their lives has been eye-opening. This journey has ignited a deep passion in me, and I am inspired to continue this important work.

I am incredibly grateful to everyone who supported me on this journey and helped me understand the community’s diverse needs. A heartfelt thank you to the FRESH Team for the incredible impact you make. Your work touches countless lives and changes them in meaningful ways. I appreciate you all more than words can express. Thank you for everything.”

As part of Dr. Hughto’s POINTS study that aims to develop strategies to prevent stimulant and opioid involved overdoses, Patrick qualitatively explored how people learn to manufacture stimulant drugs with illicitly manufactured fentanyl from the perspectives of people who distribute drugs who were incarcerated at the Rhode Island Department of Corrections.
