From Andrea’s Back-to-School letter to our JCDSRI families:
A new school year is a Shehecheyanu moment.
Jewish tradition gives us the Shehecheyanu blessing to express our gratitude for reaching a new and meaningful moment. And there is something especially meaningful about watching our school come back to life each fall.
Our once-quiet classrooms are again filled with laughter, questions, creativity, joyful play, learning, and connection. Most importantly, they are places where our children are known, loved, and encouraged to become more fully themselves.
What a gift it is to arrive at this moment together, with another year ahead of us filled with possibility.
בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה ה׳ אֱלֹהֵינוּ מֶלֶךְ הָעוֹלָם שֶׁהֶחֱיָנוּ וְקִיְּמָנוּ וְהִגִּיעָנוּ לַזְּמַן הַזֶּה
Blessed are You, Adonai our G-d, Sovereign of the All, who has given us life, sustained us, and enabled us to reach this time.
May we enter this new year with gratitude for having reached this moment and excitement for all that is still to come.
