When you join the Alliance Française of Providence, you become part of a long tradition. The Alliance Française of Providence was created in 1901 the third chapter in the United States at the initiative of Mary C. Wheeler, the founder of the Wheeler School. It is a 501c 3 not-for-profit organization incorporated in the State of Rhode Island. Its mission is to promote and enhance the appreciation of French and Francophone culture, to increase the knowledge of the French language and to encourage interaction and friendship among French, Francophones and francophiles of all racial, national and ethnic origins through cultural and social programs in education and the arts. Membership in the organization is at an all time high with more than 300 members and over 2500 "Amis de l'Alliance" who attend its events on a regular basis. For almost 120 years it has offered the people of Rhode Island many cultural, social and educational services and events. And now it is waiting for you! A COMMUNITY OF CULTURE: Let us bring you a new dimension of the French "art de vivre" through movies, concerts, lectures, wine tastings, holiday celebrations, and more. A COMMUNITY OF LANGUAGE: Our language center offers individual and group classes in French, Spanish, Italian, Arabic, and Haitian Creole for children and adults. A COMMUNITY OF FRIENDSHIP: Our Salon Français, Café-Croissants, and monthly luncheon give everyone the opportunity for conversation. Pour la semaine d’immersion, le déjeuner était purée de celeri, purée de pomme de terre, salade de tomate, et magret de canard. C’était délicieux!! 🇫🇷🇫🇷

✨The lecture will cover the Dreyfus Affair - a political and criminal justice scandal in France that went from 1894 to 1906. French artillery officer Alfred Dreyfus, of Jewish descent, was convicted of treason in 1894 and sentenced to life in prison.

✨Lecture by DIDIER SARTOR

Didier Sartor was born in (ex-) French Algeria.
He received his BS at College Stanislas Paris and
his MBA École Supérieure de Commerce Paris. Didier was the former Chairman of the Program Committee and President of the Alliance Francaise de Providence. He is now living in Tiverton RI

✨The lecture will be followed by a reception and the large screen presentation of 2019 thriller/drama J’Accuse by Roman Polanski
