We had so much fun working with Saya Woolfalk this week. She gave a talk, met with students and worked on a new print as part of RISD Editions. Look for the finished edition later this spring 🤩💙

✨Artist Talk with Saya Woolfalk
Time: 5:00-6:10pm | April 14 2026
Location: Tap room
Saya Woolfalk (Japan, 1979) is a New York based artist who uses science fiction and fantasy to re-imagine the world in multiple dimensions. With the multi-year projects No Place, The Empathics, and ChimaTEK, Woolfalk has created the world of the Empathics, a fictional race of women who are able to alter their genetic make-up and fuse with plants. With each body of work, Woolfalk continues to build the narrative of these women’s lives, and questions the utopian possibilities of cultural hybridity.

Meet our featured senior: Tamar Chameides!✨
Tamar Chameides is a printmaker originally from Los Angeles, now based in Providence, Rhode Island. Her practice explores the material possibilities of paper—how it can either absorb or resist a mark—through attention to pressure, saturation, and texture. Layering both oil- and water-based inks, she gains a deeper understanding of permeation and stagnation. Tamar draws inspiration from the quiet details of her surroundings, often brought to life through daydreaming. The liminal space between sleep and wakefulness inspires her, where her thoughts become both more abstract and more visceral. This space fuels her creative process, allowing her to approach image-making with heightened sensitivity and intuition. At the core of her work is a deep engagement with the language of print and its fundamental connection to materiality. Through it, she seeks to depict a sense of crisp depth and spatial clarity—where subtle marks become portals into imagined spaces. In her free time you can find her fishing or playing chess.
