💚 June is Myasthenia Gravis Awareness Month! 💚
Did you know Myasthenia Gravis (MG) is a rare neuromuscular disorder that causes weakness in the skeletal muscles we rely on for everyday movements — like smiling, walking, even breathing?

🦴✨ A Milestone Moment! ✨🦴
Today marks a huge step in our journey as future Doctors of Physical Therapy — our very first Osteology Lab!
Getting hands-on with the skeletal system brought our classroom learning to life. From identifying bony landmarks to understanding functional anatomy, it’s incredible to finally connect what we’ve read in textbooks with real structures.
We’re officially building the foundation (literally!) for the clinical knowledge and skills that will shape us into movement specialists.

Associate Program Director, Dr. Justin Laferrier volunteered at the Veteran Affairs (VA)/Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Winter Sports Clinic, which is the largest adaptive sports clinic in the world! 🌎
Dr. Laferrier worked with many patients and participants at the clinic and was interviewed on the benefits of participation in adaptive sports.
As a JWU DPT student you will get hands-on experience working with adaptive sports athletes and clinics with Dr. Laferrier! 🦽
See you in June! 🥳

Last night we enjoyed first annual Experiential Educator Recognition Night for an evening of recognition and networking! 🙌
Thank you to our local clinical partners who attended the event and represented the physical therapy profession.
We can’t wait to recognize one of our own community partners next year and welcome student in ~2 short months! 🥳
Thank you to for a beautiful evening!

Last week DPT Faculty members attended American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) annual Combined Sections Meeting (CSM)
Dr. Chase and Dr. Schaumberg both presented on important topics to the profession and Dr. Clancy was honored with a service award as mentioned in our previous post.
Dr. Gibson also had some fun testing out some new equipment. The team enjoyed representing Johnson & Wales at the conference and connecting with other PT’s and organizations!
As students of the DPT Program you will receive the opportunity to attend CSM too. We look forward to it next year!
