Meet Dr. Jessica Blum-Sorensen, Assistant Professor of Classics. 📚 Providence College Department of History and Classics
For our READ campaign, Dr. Blum-Sorensen chose Circe by Madeline Miller. She shared that Miller’s retelling of this iconic classical character is a beautiful example of how mythological traditions never stop evolving.

Father Kenneth Gumbert, O.P. published "Bartolomé: Las Casas in the New World" July 16, 2025. Jacob, Assistant Director of College Events & Conference Services, chose Red, White, and Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston for our READ campaign. He shared that the book was one of the first love stories in which he truly felt seen and represented, and that its joyful ending made it a favorite.
